PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Adam Ash (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Douglas Lima (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lima has chosen DMX - Ain't no sunshine as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 1, fighting out of New York, Adam Ash!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Douglas Lima!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Elvis Blanc and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ash fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Lima throws a head kick but Ash moves out of range.
Lima uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Ash.
Lima doesn't manage to clinch there - Ash circles away.
Lima tries to clinch up but Ash circles away and keeps his distance.

Lima gets a clinch.
A short right from Ash.
Ash lands a body shot in the clinch.

Ash's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Lima gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Lima tries a knee to the head but Ash blocks it.

Douglas Lima seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Ash is defended easily by Lima.
Lima ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

Ash has picked Lima up - he's going for a ride! Ash dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Ash thows a huge punch but Lima dodges it nicely.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Ash connects with a nice short shot to Lima's temple.

Ash wants to control but Lima is keeping him busy.

Ash looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Lima is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Ash's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Ash's back!
The referee is taking a good look at Ash as he is on the wrong end of some big shots from Lima!

Lima is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Ash knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Ash for a finish.

Lima is trying to stick to Ash's back but Ash is turning into Lima. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Lima's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Ash.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Ash throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Ash stops Lima from getting back to his feet.
Lima tries to get to full guard but Ash has control of the leg.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Ash wants to work for an arm triangle but Lima is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Ash is trying to control the action in half guard but Lima is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Lima manages to get to full guard.
Ash content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Ash seems to be working for a kimura but Lima defends the submission attempt.
Ash seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Lima does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lima is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Ash scores with a couple of nice shots.

After the fight, Douglas Lima was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
