PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Aoki Kakashi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yuuto Kawasati (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kakashi comes to the cage accompanied by Nas - Hate Me Now. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Aoki Kakashi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 23 - 14 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Yuuto Kawasati!
The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Yukihiro Yamamoto.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kakashi darts in and clinches Kawasati up against the cage.
Kakashi is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Kakashi throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
Kawasati throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Kakashi blocks it with crossed arms.
Kakashi jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Kawasati walks away with a smile on his face. Kakashi gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Kawasati fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Kawasati has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Kakashi.

Kakashi rushes Kawasati and presses him up against the cage.
Kawasati has a couple of punches blocked by Kakashi.
Kawasati misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Kakashi.
Kawasati tries to break the clinch but Kakashi is controlling the position.

Kakashi turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Kakashi manages to end up in side control.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Kawasati wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Kawasati is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Kakashi tries for a kimura but Kawasati is defending well.
Kakashi wants to control but Kawasati is keeping him busy.

Kakashi wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Kawasati, who protects the arm well.
Kakashi trying to control the position but Kawasati is working away.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kakashi looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kakashi is looking to take a break and control but Kawasati is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Kakashi working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
Kakashi wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kawasati keeps working.
We've been hearing that Kakashi has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.

Kawasati is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Kakashi is controlling him well.
Kakashi trying to control the action but Kawasati is working from the bottom.

Kakashi is looking to take a break and control but Kawasati is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Kawasati is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Kawasati holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.

Kakashi tries to pass the half guard into mount. Kawasati knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Kakashi is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Kawasati is just riding it out for now. Kakashi eventually gives up the hold.
Kakashi wants to pass to mount but Kawasati is defending the position.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Aoki Kakashi dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!



Kakashi has closed the distance and engaged Kawasati in a clinch.
Kakashi scores with a shoulder strike.
Kawasati is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Kawasati lands a right hand that snaps the head of Kakashi backwards.
Kawasati scores with an uppercut up the middle.
Kakashi jumps guard but Kawasati stands there with Kakashi around his waist. Kakashi gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Kawasati.
Kawasati is trying to break the clinch but Kakashi has him pressed against the cage.

Kawasati's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Kawasati throws a nice head kick!
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Kakashi checks a leg kick.
Kakashi wants to clinch
and Kawasati counters with a good, hard body kick but Kakashi shrugs it off.
Kawasati throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Kakashi.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Kakashi wants to take a breather but Kawasati manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Kakashi.

Kakashi pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Kawasati is keeping the position for now.
Kakashi wants to control from the top but Kawasati keeps moving.
Kakashi tries to free his leg and advance position but Kawasati is retaining full guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Aoki Kakashi just wasn't active enough.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Kakashi.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Aoki Kakashi. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Kawasati misses with a double jab
and Kakashi makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Kakashi darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Kakashi is pressing down on Kawasati's thigh, looking to free his foot. Kawasati is holding on for now.
Kakashi is trying to control. Kawasati wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Kawasati is looking to control Kakashi's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Kawasati avoid being mounted?

Kakashi trying to pass the guard but Kawasati defending well.
Kakashi works his way into side control.
Kakashi is looking to take a break and control but Kawasati is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Kawasati is looking for a sweep.

Kakashi goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Kawasati has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Kakashi but great work by Kawasati.

Kakashi can't do much from the bottom here.

Kakashi tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Kawasati wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Kawasati tries to move to full mount but Kakashi actually manages to regain half guard.

Kakashi keeping moving, preventing Kawasati from controlling successfully.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Kawasati won't allow Kakashi to sweep him here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Aoki Kakashi dominated that second round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Kakashi fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Kakashi throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Kawasati's waist but Kawasati gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Kakashi off to one side.

Kawasati gets caught napping as Kakashi dives in and scores a takedown. Kawasati manages to retain guard.
Kawasati is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Kakashi wants to get back to full guard.
Kawasati wants to take a breather but Kakashi is having none of it.
Kawasati content to control rather than advance.
Kawasati's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Kawasati is looking to take a break and control but Kakashi is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Yuuto Kawasati.
Kakashi changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Kawasati tries to avoid it but Kakashi manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Kawasati to the ground. Kawasati escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Aoki Kakashi. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Kakashi looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Kawasati is fending him off so far but Kakashi persists. Nope, Kawasati circles away and we're back to standing.

Kawasati connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Kawasati pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.

Kakashi takes the fight into the clinch.

Kakashi gets control of Kawasati's arms and successfully pulls guard. Kakashi will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Kawasati gets to his feet. Kakashi looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Kawasati tries to keep at a distance but Kakashi has taken the fight into the clinch.

Kakashi can't get the takedown.
Kakashi is trying to drag Kawasati to the mat but Kawasati just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Kawasati got a little sloppy there for a moment and Kakashi has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Kawasati has managed to get both his arms back between Kakashi's legs - danger averted.
Kawasati seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Kawasati decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Kakashi, up you get!

Kakashi misses with a low kick as Kawasati jumps back.
Kawasati slaps away a takedown attempt from Kakashi, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Kawasati is looking to land body kicks.
Kakashi fails in his attempt to clinch.

Kawasati fails to land with a series of punches.

Kakashi fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Kawasati sprawls well initially but Kakashi persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Kakashi wants to pass the guard but Kawasati is defending well.
Kakashi passes the guard and advances to mount!
Kawasati wants to hold on but Kakashi pushes him away.

Kawasati regains half guard.

Kakashi is looking for a kimura but Kawasati is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Kakashi to get the leverage.
Kakashi is looking to take a break and control but Kawasati is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Kawasati wants to get back to his feet.
Kakashi is trying to control. Kawasati wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Aoki Kakashi.
Well Kakashi has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3 rounds of action, we go to the scorecards for a decision.
