The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jain tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Palister manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Palister looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Jain shoots in looking for a takedown but Palister manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Jain's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Palister blocks a head kick by Jain.
Jain fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Palister avoids it really well and circles away.
Nice takedown defense from Jain. No joy for Palister on that attempt.

and Palister counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Gaurav Jain. That's going to take a lot out of him.

and Palister decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Jain's guard.
Palister prevents Jain from getting back to his feet.
Jain is breathing heavily.
Jain is trying to keep Palister in close.
Palister trying to control the position from guard on top but Jain is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Palister might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Jain haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Jain knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Palister on the ground.
