The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Barnes throws a leg kick that is checked

and Chantry counters with a takedown into side control.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Barnes defending against the ground and pound.
Chantry has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Chantry tries to score with some ground and pound. Barnes controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Chantry cracks Barnes with an elbow. That is naaassty.

Chantry is trying to get an arm triangle but Barnes is defending well.

Barnes tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Chantry wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Chantry throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Barnes works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.

Chantry is taking a breather. Barnes says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Chantry is pushing down on Barnes's leg trying to pass to half guard. Barnes is fighting to maintain full guard but Chantry has managed to sneak the leg through.
