Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Chuck Liddell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ahmed Ali Baba (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Liddell might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to It's Dark and Hell Is Hot. Ahmed Ali Baba acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the ring.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 28 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Chuck Liddell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 26 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Ahmed Ali Baba!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Radbod Blank and Paulsen Ambrosius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ali Baba fails with the takedown

and Liddell counters by clinching up.

Liddell pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Ali Baba gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Liddell counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

and Liddell counters with a low kick, right behind Ali Baba 's knee.
Chuck Liddell has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ahmed Ali Baba.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Liddell tries to pass the half guard into mount. Ali Baba knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

and Liddell counters with a single leg into guard. Ali Baba didn't expect that.


Ali Baba is rocked!
Liddell pushes down on Ali Baba's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Liddell landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Liddell wants to free his trapped foot but Ali Baba is holding on for dear life with his legs.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Ali Baba felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Liddell keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Ali Baba is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Liddell's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Liddell's back!

Ali Baba is trying to stick to Liddell's back but Liddell is turning into Ali Baba. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Ali Baba's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Liddell.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Liddell is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Ali Baba controls Liddell momentarily but Liddell frees himself.

Liddell passes Ali Baba's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Ali Baba wants to control but Liddell is keeping busy.
Ali Baba wants to get back to full guard.
Liddell looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

Liddell thows a huge punch but Ali Baba dodges it nicely.
Liddell content to control rather than advance.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

and Liddell counters with a nice leg kick.
Ali Baba throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Ali Baba takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Ali Baba walks straight into a right hand from Liddell - that's dropped him! Liddell jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save Ali Baba from any more punishment! Ali Baba complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:33 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Chuck Liddell!
