Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 25 - 13 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mike Hull!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 27 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jacks Sole!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Steve Smith and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hull pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
We've been informed that Sole has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
Sole attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Sole throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Hull throws a body kick that misses.
Hull blocks a jab.
Sole displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.
Hull throws a low kick but Sole moves out of range easily.
Sole throws a leg kick which misses Hull's front leg but catches the back leg as Hull tries to avoid it.
Hull misses with a kick to the body.
Hull misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

and Sole decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Hull's guard.

Sole pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Hull is keeping the position for now.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Jacks Sole was stalling too much, according to the referee.

and Hull makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Sole really felt that one!

Sole tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Hull manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Hull lands a leg kick that knocks Sole off balance momentarily.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Sole looks to throw the jab but Hull is out of range.
Sole shoots in for a takedown but Hull shows good takedown defense.
Sole is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Hull.

Sole closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Sole lands in his opponent's guard.
Hull wants to sweep here but Sole controlling him for the moment.
Hull has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Sole trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Sole slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Hull wants to get back to his feet.
Hull prevents Sole from improving position.
Sole wants to control but Hull is keeping him busy.
Sole tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.

Hull is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Sole throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Sole wants to control but Hull is keeping him busy.
Hull regains half guard, as Sole was trying to land strikes.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Hull is controlling Sole's trapped leg to prevent Sole from advancing to side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Sole creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Sole is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Hull is defending well for now.
I was talking to Hull's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

Hull manages to break the clinch.
Hull keeps Sole at a distance using the push kick.
Sole misses with a looping right.
Sole closes the distance looking to clinch
and Hull counters with a nice low kick that buckles Sole's knee momentarily.
Sole throws a head kick that misses.
Hull lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
Hull connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.

Hull misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Sole thows a left - swing and a miss!
Jab, jab by Sole - just one landing.
Mike Hull is winning the standup battle so far.
A jab from Sole finds it's way through Hull's defenses.
A head kick misses from Hull.
Hull shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Hull displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Sole throws out the jab.

Hull throws a low kick but Sole avoids it.
Sole on the wrong end of a kick to the body.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Hull fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Sole has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Sole does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Hull throws a push kick but Sole slaps the foot to one side.
Sole throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Sole tries to clinch there but Hull circles away.
Sole lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Hull blocks a low kick nicely.
Sole connects with the punch.
Sole throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Hull throws a nice outside leg kick.
Sole stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Hull.
Hull tries a head kick but it misses.
Sole scores with a nice right hand.
Hull throws a chopping leg kick but Sole manages to avoid taking any serious damage.

Hull walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Sole checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Hull.
Hull moves out of range of the body kick from Sole.
Hull looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Sole checks a low kick from Hull.
Sole swings for the body but Hull moves out of range.
Hull throws a leg kick but Sole checks it.

Sole delivers a nice body kick.
Hull goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Sole throws a lazy head kick
and Hull finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.
Sole with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.

Sole tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Hull is able to avoid easily.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

That was a close second round but I would say that Mike Hull will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Sole is stalling here. Hull is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Sole seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Hull has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Sole has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Hull.
Sole takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Sole loads up on a big right hand but Hull slips the punch.

Sole fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Hull manages to avoid it.

Sole wants to slow Hull down by chopping away at his legs.

Sole throws out a loose jab but Hull uses good head movement to avoid it.
Sole throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Some bone on bone action there as Hull checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Good leg kick by Hull there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
