The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ax looks to land a combination but Garcia avoids it well.

Ax shoots in and gets a takedown into Garcia's guard.

Ax gets to his feet - Garcia follows without any prompting.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Garcia has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Ax is on him like a limpet, forcing Garcia back against the cage.

Ax drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Garcia manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Ax has Garcia in his guard.
Ax tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Garcia wants to stand but Ax has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Ax is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at Australian Xtreme Elite Stand Up Training that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet.
Ax lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Garcia!

Ax goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Garcia turns into him and now he's in Ax's guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
