Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Al Simmons (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sparky Anderson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Anderson has chosen Blue clear sky as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Al Simmons!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Sparky Anderson!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Yves DeLean and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Anderson avoids the body shot from Simmons.
Simmons throws a combination that misses

and Anderson counters with a nice double leg into side control. Simmons won't be happy with that.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Anderson looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Anderson trying to control the position but Simmons is working away.
Anderson working the ground and pound from side control.
Simmons is trying to get back to half guard.
Simmons is pushing Anderson's head away, looking to escape. Anderson manages to hold on to the position though.
Simmons is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at Imperium MMA Gym(4 Sprbt 4*+)(15 Coach)$850, so we'll see if he gets out of it.
Simmons is not content to let Anderson control the position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Anderson remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Anderson tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Anderson has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Anderson tries for a kimura but Simmons is defending well.
Simmons avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Anderson.

Anderson throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Anderson is looking to take a break and control but Simmons is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Simmons stuck in half guard on the bottom here.

Anderson thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Anderson has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Anderson working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Anderson wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Simmons, who protects the arm well.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Simmons can't do much from the bottom here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sparky Anderson dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Simmons is not content to let Anderson control the position.

Anderson goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Simmons has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Anderson but great work by Simmons.
Anderson is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Anderson makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Anderson.

Anderson bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Simmons's guard.
Anderson postures up in Simmons's guard and throws a big left but Simmons blocks it.
Simmons utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Anderson trying to control the position from guard on top but Simmons is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Anderson advances position into side control!
Simmons prevents Anderson from improving position.

Anderson is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Simmons is trying to escape and Anderson transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Simmons is forced to tap! Nice work there by Anderson! Very nice indeed!

In his post fight interview, Sparky Anderson started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
