Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jack Shields (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Quiet Monkey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Monkey has chosen Epic - Faith No More as his entrance music. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Quiet Monkey!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Monkey slips a jab and a cross from Shields.
Sloppy strikes from Shields. Those never looked like landing.
Shields misses with a low kick as Monkey jumps back.
Shields throws a sloppy head kick and Monkey moves out of range easily.
Shields falls off balance throwing a combination

so Monkey counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Monkey working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Monkey working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
Monkey wants to pass the guard but Shields is keeping the position.
Monkey chips away with some ground and pound.
Monkey loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Monkey throws an elbow that misses. Shields uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Monkey's guard. Nice move by Shields!
Shields might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Monkey is on top in guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Shields avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Monkey stopping the sweep attempt from Shields.
Monkey trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Monkey passes Shields's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Monkey is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Shields!
Monkey wants to control the pace but Shields is squirming around nicely.
Monkey has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Monkey lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Shields hang on?

Monkey looking to isolate an arm here. Shields doesn't see it coming and as Monkey extends the arm, he's forced to tap out! Nice submission by Monkey!
