Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Chong Zhu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Warwick Martigan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Zhu comes to the cage accompanied by Meet Gazoo. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Chong Zhu!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Warwick Martigan!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Elvis Blanc and Alec Ball.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Zhu pivots, looking for a leg kick but Martigan is out of range and Zhu settles back down.
Martigan throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Zhu scores with a kick to the body.
Zhu moves out of range as Martigan strikes.
Zhu throws a head kick that misses.
Martigan looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Martigan throws out a loose jab but Zhu uses good head movement to avoid it.
Martigan keeps the fight on the outside.
Martigan with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Martigan throws a lazy right hand but Zhu sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Zhu avoids a punch combination nicely.

and Zhu counters with a big head kick but Martigan shrugs it off.

Zhu has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

Zhu tries to clinch up but Martigan circles away and keeps his distance.

No joy there for Martigan, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Zhu throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Martigan bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Zhu's head.

Martigan gets tackled into the cage by Zhu. Zhu maintains the clinch.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Martigan uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Zhu.

Zhu throws a low kick, looking for Martigan's leg but Martigan calmly moves out of range.

so Zhu counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Zhu tries to free his leg and advance position but Martigan is retaining full guard.
Zhu wants to stand and escape but instead Martigan has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Martigan controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Martigan really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Zhu. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Zhu is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Zhu had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Martigan defends it easily.
Martigan connects with a couple of short punches.
Zhu keeping moving, preventing Martigan from controlling successfully.
Martigan in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Martigan is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Zhu is trying to keep Martigan in close.
Zhu wants to hit a switch here but Martigan passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Zhu there!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Chong Zhu will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Zhu attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Zhu dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Zhu throws a sloppy head kick and Martigan moves out of range easily.

Warwick Martigan is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Martigan throws a right and a left that Zhu avoids nicely.

Zhu uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Martigan has time to react.

and Zhu counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

Oh Zhu is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Zhu tries to pass the half guard into mount. Martigan knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Zhu seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Martigan does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Zhu is looking for a kimura but Martigan is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Zhu to get the leverage.
Chong Zhu overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Martigan has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Zhu is working away from the top position though.
Zhu wants to control but Martigan is keeping him busy.

That was a close second round but I would say that Chong Zhu will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

It looks like Chong Zhu has been cut.
Martigan does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Zhu lands with a kick to the temple. Martigan shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"

Zhu feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Martigan's calf.
Martigan is still on wobbly legs! Can Zhu finish him?
Zhu scores with a hook to the body. Martigan takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Martigan takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Zhu lands a big head kick that sends Martigan to the canvas! Zhu follows up with strikes from the mount that forces the ref to step in and stop the fight!
