PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Oscar Boma (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steve Rogers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Boma kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Andrew and Wada Blood - Irie. Oscar Boma has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Oscar Boma!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Steve Rogers!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Donatello Bradman and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rogers fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Rogers looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Boma!
Boma on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Boma tries to get out of the position.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Rogers's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Boma tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Rogers presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!
Rogers throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
Boma is squirming around, avoiding Rogers's attempts to control the action.
The referee warns Boma that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Rogers can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Boma is looking to escape.
Boma knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Rogers on the ground.

Rogers looking to control and managing it successfully.
Boma is working to get back to half guard.
Boma takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Rogers has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Rogers sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Rogers lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rogers trying to control but he's not successful this time.

Boma keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Rogers prevents Boma from getting the reversal.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rogers takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Rogers wants to control the pace but Boma is squirming around nicely.
Rogers looking to control and managing it successfully.
Let's hope that Rogers has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Steve Rogers was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Rogers closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Boma is letting Rogers control him for a moment.
Rogers wants to lay and pray for a moment but Boma keeps working.
A lull in the action here as Rogers stalls from top position.
Boma is not content to let Rogers control the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Rogers tries to score with some ground and pound. Boma controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

Boma is trying to work for a sweep but Rogers has mounted him!

Rogers wants to control the pace but Boma is squirming around nicely.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Rogers controlling the pace for now.
Boma is looking to get to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Steve Rogers dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!


Boma keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Rogers shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Boma defends it nicely.
Rogers tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Boma swivels and escapes.
Boma looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Oscar Boma has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Steve Rogers.
Rogers darts in looking for a takedown but Boma gets double underhooks and turns Rogers into the cage.
Boma lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Rogers or not.
Boma digs a right hand into Rogers's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Rogers's gas tank.

Boma manages to break the clinch.

Rogers is breathing heavily.
Boma stuffs the takedown.

Boma scores with a body shot.
Steve Rogers seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A head kick misses from Boma.
A slapping leg kick lands for Boma.
Boma stuns Rogers with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Boma tests Rogers's chin there with a solid looking shot.


It looks like Steve Rogers has been cut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Rogers takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Boma scores with a slapping inside leg kick.

Boma lands a big head kick that sends Rogers tumbling to the mat! Boma takes a step backwards and waves Rogers back to his feet - he wants the finish!


Rogers is rocked!
Boma lands a leg kick that knocks Rogers off balance momentarily.
Rogers is still on wobbly legs! Can Boma finish him?
Boma throws a monster overhand right that drops Rogers! Boma follows up with more strikes from mount and the fight is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:53 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Oscar Boma!
A very excited looking Oscar Boma made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
