PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Josh Ring (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Mack (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mack has chosen Ships in the night-Mat Kearney as his entrance music. There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Josh Ring!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jack Mack!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Alec Ball and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mack shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Mack is looking to pass Ring's guard but actually Ring recovers to full guard.

Mack is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Mack drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Mack jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Mack thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Mack stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ring swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Ring will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Mack drops back looking for a leg! Ring is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Ring manages to kick Mack off! Mack jumps back into Ring's guard.

Mack is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Ring is aware though and is defending well.
Mack is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Ring is controlling him.

Mack is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Ring defends well.

Ring stands up and waves to Mack to follow him.
Mack goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Mack throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Ring counters with a straight right hand.
Mack fails with the takedown.
Ring displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Mack.
Mack takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Ring catches Mack with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!

Mack shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Ring manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Mack stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ring swivels though and keeps the full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Mack prevents Ring from getting back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ring seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Ring wants to sweep here but Mack controlling him for the moment.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Ring is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Mack is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Ring is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Ring has escaped and now he's on top!

Mack has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Ring can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Mack has an active guard here but Ring has managed to pass into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jack Mack dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Mack tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Mack will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Mack tries to close the distance and clinch up but Ring swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Ring takes a kick to the side of the head.


It looks like Josh Ring has been cut.

Ring misses with a body shot.
Mack tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Ring defends well and Mack ends up having to push Ring into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Ring cracks Mack with a nice body shot.
Mack takes a shot to the head.
Ring slowing the pace effectively.
Ring tries to throw a body punch but Mack avoids it by throwing Ring back against the cage.
Mack tries to land a knee to the head but Ring blocks with his arms.

Ring's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Mack uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Ring.
Mack needs to keep his hands up - Ring had a free shot at his head there.
Jack Mack is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Mack throws a combination that misses
and Ring counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Josh Ring is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Ring throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Ring throws a body punch but Mack moves out of range.
A head kick misses from Mack.
Ring misses with a looping left.
Jack Mack seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mack swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Ring swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Mack fails with a takedown attempt.
Josh Ring has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jack Mack.
Mack on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Ring avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Mack tries to clinch
and Ring counters with a left and a right that stings Mack.
Mack throws a leg kick which misses Ring's front leg but catches the back leg as Ring tries to avoid it.
Ring connects with a body shot that sends Mack's belly button to the back.
Ring scores with a jab to the jaw.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Mack avoids a punch combination nicely.
Ring lands with a hook. Mack tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Mack throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Ring stuns Mack with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Mack throws a right and a left that Ring avoids nicely.
Mack walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Ring uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Mack has time to react.

Ring throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Ring cracks Mack with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

Ring throws a right hand that Mack ducks under and follows up with a left that Mack also avoids with ease.
Ring lands a glancing blow to the side of Mack's head.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Ring looks to throw the jab but Mack is out of range.
Ring throws the left hand but Mack avoids the punch easily.
Mack throws a series of punches but Ring moves out of range.
Mack doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Mack shoots in for a double leg but Ring sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Mack takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Ring lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Mack throws a right and a left that Ring avoids nicely.
Ring fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Mack takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Ring throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Ring thuds his right hand into Mack's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Ring lands with a good body shot.
Ring smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Mack bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Mack shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Ring pinned against the cage. Ring gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Mack misses with a few strikes there.
Ring digs a good body shot into Mack's ribs.

Mack throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Ring throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Ring clobbers Mack with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Ring throws a shot to the body.
Mack takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Mack takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Ring scores with a nice right hand.
Ring throws a good cross that connects.

Mack throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Ring is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Ring clobbers Mack with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Mack swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Ring uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Ring, as that shot connected.
Good shot there by Ring.
Ring works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.


Mack is rocked!
Ring lands with a right and another and another! Mack is in big trouble! Ring lands again and this time it's lights out for Mack! A quality knockout there for Ring.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:45 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Josh Ring!
Josh Ring was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
