PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between James Bomb (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kaely Cullen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Bomb might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Casino Royale Soundtrack - You Know My Name. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 54 - 23 - 7, fighting out of Helsinki, James Bomb!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 30 - 11 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kaely Cullen!
The judges for this bout are , Don Winkell and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fight stays on the outside here - Cullen looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Bomb just misses with a punch to the body.
Bomb misses with a head kick.
Cullen scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Bomb doesn't seem bothered though.
Bomb lands a body shot.
Cullen looks to score with a jab to the body but Bomb is just out of range.
The fight stays on the outside here - Cullen looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Bomb lands with a hook. Cullen tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.


It looks like Kaely Cullen has been cut.
Bomb throws a leg kick but Cullen sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Cullen tries to land a leg kick but Bomb saw it coming and moves away.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Bomb cracks Cullen with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Cullen scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Bomb doesn't seem bothered though.
Cullen wants to land a leg kick but Bomb is out of range.
We've been told by Bomb's head coaches at KO Gym that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Cullen throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Bomb.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Bomb trying to control but Cullen postures up.

Cullen takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Bomb wants to control but Cullen is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Hammerfist, elbow! yells Cullen's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Bomb utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Cullen has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Cullen throws a strike but Bomb rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Cullen is looking to regain half guard here but Bomb keeps moving and retains side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kaely Cullen dominated that round.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Cullen tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Cullen shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Bomb napping and manages to drive through into side control!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bomb prevents Cullen from improving position.
Cullen misses with the ground and pound.
Bomb is trying to control Cullen's posture but Cullen avoids it.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Cullen working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
Cullen sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Bomb is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.

Bomb is trying to control Cullen's posture but Cullen avoids it.
Cullen is working Bomb over with some ground and pound from side control.
Cullen in side control lands a decent elbow.
Bomb parries the strikes from Cullen easily there. Cullen is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Bomb to escape.
Bomb managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Cullen.

Cullen throwing strikes but Bomb manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!
Cullen tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Bomb wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Cullen manages to get back to half guard.
Bomb looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

The ref stands the fighters back up. James Bomb wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Cullen fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Bomb scores with a push kick.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Bomb stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Nice sprawl there from Bomb as Cullen shoots in.
Bomb displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Bomb dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Cullen. That did some damage!
Cullen fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Bomb avoids it really well and circles away.
James Bomb has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kaely Cullen.
Cullen is breathing heavily.
Bomb blocks a head kick by Cullen.
Bomb is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.
Bomb throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Cullen.


That has opened up Kaely Cullen's cut even more.
Cullen tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Bomb is able to avoid easily.
Bomb tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Cullen was well out of range. Poor timing from Bomb.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Cullen takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Bomb lands with a shot to the body.

Bomb connects with a solid leg kick.

That was a close second round but I would say that James Bomb will probably get the nod.

Bomb stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Cullen.
Cullen lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
A solid leg kick lands there for Bomb.

Cullen moves away from the strike by Bomb.

Cullen throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Bomb tries to land a front kick but Cullen steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

Cullen steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Bomb.
Cullen is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Cullen will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Bomb bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.

Bomb has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Cullen is working away from the top position though.
Bomb tries to kick Cullen off but Cullen keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Cullen throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Bomb throws a solid leg kick but Cullen takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Bomb.
Bomb throws a series of punches but Cullen moves out of range.
Bomb moves out of range of the leg kick from Cullen.
Bomb goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Cullen throws a low kick but it's checked well by Bomb.
Cullen thows a body shot but no joy.
Bomb lands a leg kick that knocks Cullen off balance momentarily.
Bomb leaves Cullen with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Cullen misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Bomb bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Cullen's head backwards.

Bomb uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Cullen is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Bomb rather than just go for the knockout.

Cullen drives through and clinches with Bomb against the cage.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Bomb manages to break the clinch.
Cullen is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Bomb throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Cullen.


The cut above Kaely Cullen's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Cullen takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Bomb slips under a jab.
Bomb is looking to slow Cullen down with leg kicks.

Cullen closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Bomb to the mat! Bomb manages to get full guard.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Bomb is trying to keep Cullen in close.

James Bomb showed his dominance in that final round.
