PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Yang Lee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jonny Dime (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lee comes into the arena with Japanese National Anthem blaring out of the sound system. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Yang Lee!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jonny Dime!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, George Francis and Tiny Johnson.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dime fails to land the takedown.
Dime throws a leg kick that is checked
and Lee counters with a big head kick but Dime shrugs it off.
Dime tries to close the distance and clinch but Lee swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Dime is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Lee takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Dime scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Lee doesn't seem bothered though.

Dime throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Lee was covering up waiting for the punch and Dime finishes the takedown easily into guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Lee has momentary wrist control but Dime slips an elbow through the middle.
Dime wants to stand but Lee has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Dime has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Dime trying to control but Lee is working from the bottom.
Dime throws a strike but Lee rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Lee will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Lee wants to control from the top but Dime keeps moving.
Lee would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Dime is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Lee wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Dime is trying to break free.

Dime blocks a body shot from Lee.
Lee with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Lee is struggling to control the position.
Lee is trying to break free.
Lee tries to pull guard but Dime holds him up against the cage and eventually Lee drops back down to his feet.

Dime breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Jonny Dime seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Dime tries to score a power double leg takedown but Lee sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Dime somewhat.
Dime tries a head kick but it misses.
Dime misses with a shot to the body

and Lee counters by clinching up.

Dime pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Dime tries to clinch but Lee moves out of range.
Lee moves in looking to clinch but Dime pushes him off.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Dime misses with a low kick.

Dime closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Lee did well to prevent Dime getting side control.

Dime is working for a submission of some sort.
Lee keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Lee is trying to stand back up but Dime is controlling him
Dime thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Lee's head.
Dime wants to stand up but Lee is controlling the position.
Dime trying to control from half guard but Lee is working away.

Dime tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Lee.
Dime thows a huge punch but Lee dodges it nicely.
Dime is pressing down on Lee's thigh, looking to free his foot. Lee is holding on for now.
Dime trying to control the action but Lee is working from the bottom.
Lee wants to get back to his feet.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Dime is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Dime sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Lee defending well though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Lee takes the fight into the clinch.

Dime breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Dime throws a one two combo.
Dime throws a series of strikes that have Lee backpedaling.
Dime throws an overhand right from the outside, which connects and sends Lee stumbling backwards into the cage! Lee bounces back off the cage towards Dime, who cracks him with a two punch combination that drops him to his knees! Dime lands two more shots before the referee has chance to intervene - what a finish! Dime celebrates with his corner as the crowd cheer loudly.
