Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kolo Cornelius (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Haigh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). John Haigh has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Kolo Cornelius!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, John Haigh!
The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Valeri Chadov and Dmitry Maklakov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cornelius looks to land a left hand but Haigh moved out of range nicely.
Haigh looks to land a combination. Cornelius sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
A combination from Haigh does no damage.
Haigh jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Haigh connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Cornelius momentarily.
Cornelius swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Haigh throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Cornelius's waist but Cornelius gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Haigh off to one side.
Haigh scores with a jab to the head.
Cornelius thows a leg kick but Haigh checks it
and Haigh connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Haigh misses with a series of wild punches.
Cornelius takes a shot right to the bread basket.

Cornelius takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Cornelius throws a body punch but Haigh moves out of range.

Cornelius has Haigh up against the cage in a clinch.

Cornelius misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Haigh.

Cornelius swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Haigh, as that shot connected.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Cornelius bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Haigh slips a straight right by Cornelius.
Cornelius throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Haigh is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Cornelius had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
Haigh keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Haigh feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Cornelius on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Cornelius tries to get out of the position.

Haigh is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Haigh thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Cornelius tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Haigh wants to control from the top but Cornelius keeps moving.
Cornelius knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Haigh on the ground.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Cornelius is trying to keep Haigh in close.
Haigh trying to control the position from guard on top but Cornelius is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Haigh shoots in but Cornelius avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Haigh looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Sloppy strikes from Haigh. Those never looked like landing.
Cornelius connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Haigh momentarily.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Haigh's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Haigh duly obliges.

Haigh rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Cornelius moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Cornelius takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Oh Cornelius is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Haigh cracks Cornelius with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Haigh swings for the body but Cornelius moves out of range.
Cornelius throws a series of punches but Haigh avoids them all with ease.

and Haigh counters with a right hand to the body.
Cornelius seems to have got his legs back now.
A slow jab from Cornelius misses its intended target.
Haigh throws a series of punches but Cornelius avoids them all with ease.
Haigh digs a good hook to Cornelius's body.
Cornelius throws a hook but Haigh avoids it easily.
Cornelius throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Haigh stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Haigh connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Cornelius's hands.

Cornelius's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Haigh connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Cornelius scrambles back to his feet.

Haigh scores with a sloppy right hand. Cornelius should have avoided that one.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Haigh checks a leg kick.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Haigh is defended easily by Cornelius.

Cornelius fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Haigh, pushing him back against the cage.
Haigh lands a left hand that snaps the head of Cornelius backwards.

Haigh breaks from the clinch.
Haigh misses with the combination.
Cornelius tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Haigh lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Haigh shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Cornelius as he jumps to the side.

And that's the end of the fight!
John Haigh comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Haigh has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
