The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mautz drives through and clinches with Turnbull against the cage.
Mautz should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Mautz pulls Turnbull into guard.
Mautz wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Turnbull trying to control but Mautz is working from the bottom.
Turnbull trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Mautz manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!
Turnbull wants to control the position but Mautz says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.

Mautz decides to stand up.

Turnbull wants to clinch up but Mautz keeps it at a distance.
Mautz throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

and Mautz counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Turnbull's guard now.
Turnbull has a closed guard, preventing Mautz from standing up.

Mautz decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Turnbull, up you get!
Turnbull tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Mautz manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Mautz looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Mautz tries to score a body lock takedown but Turnbull shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Mautz tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Mautz is trying to push Turnbull away but Turnbull has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Turnbull is pressed up against the cage. Mautz has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Turnbull down to the mat. Turnbull avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Mark Turnbull has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Brian Mautz.

Mautz rushes Turnbull and presses him up against the cage.
Turnbull lands a left hand.
Turnbull lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Mautz.

It looks like Brian Mautz has been cut.
Turnbull lands a left hand that snaps the head of Mautz backwards.

Turnbull makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Mautz is still on wobbly legs! Can Turnbull finish him?
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Mautz has eaten all the pies!
The fighters are playing wrist control here with Mautz pressed against the cage. Turnbull frees himself up and cracks Turnbull with an uppercut straight from the bowels of hell! Mautz crumples to the floor, out cold! Turnbull jumps on to the cage and takes in the roar of the crowd! That was nasty!
