Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Momentum Shift (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Geoff Sanburg (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sanburg has chosen Black Sabbath - War Pigs as his entrance music. Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Geoff Sanburg enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Geoff Sanburg!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Steve Smith and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sanburg throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Shift was covering up waiting for the punch and Sanburg finishes the takedown easily into guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Shift is looking for a triangle here but Sanburg uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Sanburg is putting a hurting on Shift here, landing some big shots from side control.
Shift tries to strike from the bottom but misses.
Shift tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Sanburg working the strikes but Shift uses the opportunity to regain half guard.

Sanburg is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That kick from Sanburg tenderised Shift's leg. Shift is trying to keep his angry face on.

and Sanburg counters with a single leg into guard. Shift didn't expect that.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Momentum Shift. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Shift had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Sanburg defends it easily.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Geoff Sanburg was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Sanburg fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Shift.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Shift has a takedown stuffed.
Shift is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.

Geoff Sanburg showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Shift takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.

Sanburg throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Sanburg thows a body kick. Shift tries to catch it but that hurt him.
Sanburg shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Shift eats them both and turns towards Sanburg to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Shift tries to clinch up.
Shift takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
A solid leg kick lands there for Sanburg.

Sanburg thumps Shift with a low kick.

Shift closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Sanburg is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Shift has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Shift swings around for an armbar but Sanburg sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Shift's guard.
Shift utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Shift has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Sanburg can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Shift can't keep his opponent in guard - Sanburg advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Sanburg tries to pass the half guard into mount. Shift knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Well Sanburg has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
