The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rivers tries to close the distance and clinch but Ortiz swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Rivers defending well as Ortiz loads up on a big left hand.
Rivers misses with a straight right.
Rivers throws a jab but it's blocked by Ortiz.
Ortiz tries to close the distance and clinch up but Rivers swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Rivers ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Ortiz is looking to clinch.
Ortiz fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Rivers on the side of the head.
Nice straight punches there by Ortiz. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Ortiz.
Victor Ortiz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ortiz goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Rivers on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Rivers ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Rivers misses with a hook.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Rivers throws a leg kick but Ortiz sees it coming and moves out of range.
Ortiz feints a jab promting Rivers to slip. Ortiz then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Rivers slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

Rivers rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Ortiz counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Ortiz looks to throw the jab but Rivers is out of range.

Rivers is rocked!
Ortiz circles away before darting back in with a big straight right hand. It connects beautifully and sends Rivers tumbling to the canvas! He's out cold! Ortiz wins by KO!
