Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jack Bauer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marty Mendes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bauer's entrance music is AC/DC - Thunderstruck. A fine choice. Marty Mendes told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jack Bauer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Elvis Blanc and Ian Loll.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bauer gets a takedown into half guard.
Bauer missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Mendes wants to improve his position but Bauer is controlling well.
Bauer looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Mendes with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Mendes is trying to maintain the position but Bauer is very close to passing his half guard.
Bauer landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Bauer seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Mendes does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Mendes is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Bauer is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Mendes doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Bauer.

Bauer throws an elbow that misses. Mendes uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Bauer's guard. Nice move by Mendes!
Bauer has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Bauer wants to sweep here but Mendes controlling him for the moment.

Bauer postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Mendes is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Bauer, into his guard.

Bauer controls Mendes momentarily but Mendes frees himself.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Bauer connects with a nice short shot to Mendes's temple.

Mendes fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Jack Bauer is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Bauer lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Mendes circles away quickly and effectively.
Bauer shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Mendes but Mendes pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Mendes is stalling here. Bauer is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Mendes seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Bauer has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Well Bauer has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
