PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Dack Fayden (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Josepha Caron (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Caron has chosen Gros Jambon as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Josepha Caron enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dack Fayden!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 9 - 0, fighting out of New York, Josepha Caron!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Reed Andrews and Jorge Garcia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Fayden closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Fayden keeps control of Caron as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Fayden taking a breather.
Caron lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.


It looks like Dack Fayden has been cut.

Caron pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Caron misses with a wild body shot.
Caron lands a high kick!
Fayden changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Caron tries to avoid it but Fayden manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Caron to the ground. Caron escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Caron throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Fayden tries to clinch up but Caron circles away and keeps his distance.
Caron throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.

Fayden drives through and clinches with Caron against the cage.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Caron breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Josepha Caron seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Fayden blocks the body kick.
Caron connects with a nice looking jab.
Caron showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Fayden.

Caron moves into range and clinches up with Fayden.

Caron is pressed up against the cage. Fayden has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Caron down to the mat. Caron avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Fayden blocks the body kick.
Fayden misses with a jab, cross combination.
Caron throws a body kick that misses.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Caron connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Fayden's hands.
Caron keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dack Fayden. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Fayden tries to clinch but Caron is having none of it.

Fayden gets the takedown into side control.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Caron can do anything to dispel that myth.
Fayden postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Fayden wants to lay and pray for a moment but Caron keeps working.
Caron tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Fayden wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Fayden wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Caron, who protects the arm well.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Fayden tries to move into full mount but can't pass Caron's legs.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Fayden throws an elbow but Caron slips to the side and avoids it well.

Fayden tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Fayden has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Caron gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!

Fayden tries to control but Caron wriggling away.

Fayden working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.

Fayden working for a submission but Caron is keeping him at bay.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Fayden throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Caron because Fayden loaded up on that one.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Fayden pushes Caron back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.

Caron pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Fayden looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Fayden displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.
Fayden tries to clinch there but Caron circles away.
Caron tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Caron tries to sprawl but Fayden drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Fayden is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Fayden thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Caron's head.
Fayden passes to side control.

Fayden looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Fayden fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Caron really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Fayden. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Fayden is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Caron is trying to escape and Fayden transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Caron is forced to tap! Nice work there by Fayden! Very nice indeed!
