Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Percy Peterson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Max Payne (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Max Payne is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Percy Peterson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Max Payne!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Robert Douchet and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Payne looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Payne sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Peterson defending well though.
Payne working Peterson over with strikes.
Payne thows a huge punch but Peterson dodges it nicely.
Payne thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Peterson is trying to stand back up but Payne is controlling him
Payne misses with a head shot. Peterson uses the momentum to regain guard.
Payne is stalling in the full guard.
Payne postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Payne is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Payne throwing strikes from guard but Peterson blocks nicely.
Payne stays in close to Peterson's body and controls the position.
Payne throws a strike but Peterson rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Payne wants to improve his position but instead Peterson has moved into half guard.

Payne wants to get back to his feet.
Payne is trying to get back to full guard.

Peterson decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Payne shoots in for a double leg but Peterson sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Peterson delivers a nice body kick.
Peterson scores with a kick to the midsection.
Payne looks winded!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Payne misses with a takedown attempt - Peterson sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Peterson shoots in for a takedown but Payne shows good takedown defense.
Peterson connects with a high kick.
Peterson scores with a jab to the jaw.

Peterson lands the left hand.
Peterson tries for a takedown but Payne sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Peterson lands a nice looking body shot.

Peterson moves into the clinch successfully.
Peterson wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Payne has him pressed against the cage.

Peterson is trying to stand back up but Payne is controlling him

Payne is looking to stall here but Peterson recovers full guard.
Payne is working Peterson over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Payne throws a strike but Peterson rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Peterson in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Payne really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Peterson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Payne punching from the bottom - just letting Peterson know he's still in a fight.

Payne uses the cage to get back to his feet.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Payne shoots in for a takedown but Peterson shows good takedown defense.
Percy Peterson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Max Payne.
Peterson stuffs the takedown attempt from Payne. Payne gets slowly back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Max Payne will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Peterson throws a nice inside leg kick.
A decent looking cross lands there for Payne.
Peterson scores with a head kick.
Peterson misses with a double jab

and Payne counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Payne looking to sit in guard and control but Peterson gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Peterson wants to get up but he can't break Payne's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Peterson is standing up over Payne. Payne looks to escape but Peterson dives into side control.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Peterson in side control lands a decent elbow.

Payne is looking to regain half guard here but Peterson keeps moving and retains side control.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Payne can do anything to dispel that myth.
Peterson wants to stand but Payne is controlling his arm.
Payne is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Peterson is controlling him well.
Sloppy strikes there by Peterson.
Payne is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Payne throws up a few punches.
Payne is trying to buck Peterson off.
Peterson is looking to take a break and control but Payne is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Peterson scores with punches from side control.
Payne wants to control but Peterson postures up.
Peterson will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Payne tries to improve position but can't.
Payne is breathing heavily.
Peterson works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Payne pushes Peterson away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Peterson gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Peterson tries to stand but Payne is controlling his head.
Peterson sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Payne is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.

Peterson cracks Payne with a big elbow.
Payne is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Peterson is one step ahead and moves to full mount!
Payne is looking to improve his position but Peterson isn't that keen on the idea.
Peterson landing strikes, looking to finish!
Payne tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Peterson looking for a guillotine from mount but Payne is having none of it.
Peterson blocks Payne's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Peterson cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Peterson fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Peterson has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Payne's face.


Payne is rocked!
Payne tries to hold on but Peterson postures up.
Payne is still in real trouble! Can Peterson finish him?
Payne in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
Payne is trying desperately to improve position.
Payne seems to have recovered his senses.
Payne is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Max Payne has got the better of the ground game so far.
Peterson pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Payne is trying to escape the mount.
Peterson raining down hammerfists from mount.
Peterson has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Peterson is landing with some decent strikes but Payne is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Percy Peterson dominated that second round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


A right-left combo lands from Peterson.

Peterson gets caught napping as Payne dives in and scores a takedown. Peterson manages to retain guard.
Payne slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Payne throws a big right hand that misses.
Peterson wants to get back to his feet but Payne is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Payne distracts Peterson with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Peterson manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Payne rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Peterson moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Peterson falls off balance throwing a combination

and Payne counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Peterson is trying to stand.
Payne missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Payne is controlling the pace.
Payne seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Peterson does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Payne is just content to waste time from the top position. Peterson takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

Payne throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Peterson works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Payne is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Peterson scores with a couple of nice shots.

Payne is looking to get back to full guard here but Peterson has managed to pass to side control instead.
Payne tries to bench press Peterson off him but Peterson keeps the position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Payne tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Peterson presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!

Peterson looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

And that's the end of the fight!
Max Payne comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Payne has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
