PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Barry Scott (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Danny Power (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Scott comes to the cage accompanied by Bang - By Barry Scott. Power is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Dangerous. On his way into the cage it seems that Barry Scott has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Barry Scott seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 23 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, Barry Scott!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Danny Power!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Power scores with a punch to the head.
Power scores with a decent looking hook.
Scott shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Power shoots in looking for a takedown. Scott tries to sprawl out of it but Power keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Scott manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
A cross from Scott lands.
Scott uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Power.
Power fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Scott manages to avoid it.
Scott blocks a jab.
Scott moves in looking to clinch but Power pushes him off.
Power checks the leg kick nicely there.
Scott ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Scott walks into a jab.
Scott fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Power has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
A looping hook to the body misses from Scott. Power does a little dance to reset his feet.
Scott takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Power lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Scott throws a leg kick but Power sees it coming and checks it nicely.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Scott slips under a jab from Power.
Scott lands with a shot to the body.
Scott takes a kick to the side of the head.
Scott misses the shot to the body.
Scott throws a sloppy head kick and Power moves out of range easily.
Power listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Scott misses with a straight left.
Nice straight punches there by Power. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Power.
Scott cracks Power with a good jab.
Scott feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Powers jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!


It looks like Danny Power has been cut.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Power on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Power chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Power uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Scott.
Scott throws a body punch but Power moves out of range.
Scott connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Power's hands.
Power has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Power misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Power scores with a jab to the head.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Power is looking to slow Scott down with leg kicks.
Power tries to work over Scott's front leg with a kick but Scott checks it.
Scott looks for the body kick but Power saw that one coming.
Power darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Scott takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Scott misses the shot to the body.
Power buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Power connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Power moves out of range of the leg kick from Scott.
Power lands a head shot.
Scott on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Scott scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Scott with a nice cross.
Scott darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Scott.

Scott keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Power is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
Scott buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Scott tries a low kick but Power avoids it.
Scott throws a good cross that connects.
Power throws a body kick that misses.
Power swings for the body but Scott moves out of range.

Scott throws a low kick but it's checked well by Power.
Scott takes a swing at Power's ribcage but misses.
Power lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Scott misses with a series of wild punches.

Scott misses with a low kick as Power jumps back.
Scott tries to clinch up but Power circles away and keeps his distance.
Power swats away the attempt to clinch by Scott.

Power avoids the body shot from Scott.
Power keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Scott avoids a punch combination nicely.
Power moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Power avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Power checks a leg kick.
Scott walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Power throws a lazy right hand but Scott sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Power lands a front kick.
Scott wants to slow Power down by chopping away at his legs.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Power connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Power throws a hook to the side of Scott's head but Scott sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Scott tries to score a power double leg takedown but Power sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Scott somewhat.
A slapping leg kick lands for Power.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Danny Power will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Danny Power's cut.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Scott looks to throw the jab but Power is out of range.
Scott thumps Power with a low kick.
Scott loads up on a big right hand but Power slips the punch.
Power connects with an inside leg kick.
Power looks to land a body kick but Scott moved away.
Power scoring well with a low kick there.
A punch lands to the side of Scott 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Scott throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Donk. Power catches Scott right on the button with a cross.
A telegraphed right hand from Scott misses the target.
Power scores with a hook.
A looping hook to the body misses from Power. Scott does a little dance to reset his feet.
Danny Power seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Power blocks a leg kick.
Power feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Scott's calf.
Power lands a nice leg kick that just misses Scott's sensitive parts.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Scott misses with a wild combination.
Scott wants to slow Power down by chopping away at his legs.

A jab from Scott finds it's way through Power's defenses.
Scott takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

Power tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Scott swivels and escapes.
Scott looks to score with a jab to the body but Power is just out of range.
Power throws a push kick but Scott slaps the foot to one side.
Power takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.

Power tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Power lands a nice shot that snaps Scott's head back.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Power scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Scott wants to control but Power is keeping busy.
Scott works his way to full guard. Good work.
Scott wants to hit a switch here but Power passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Scott there!
Scott is trying desperately to improve position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Power is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Scott can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Power breaks from Scott's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Scott is looking to get to half guard.
Power scoring with strikes but Scott is staying in there.

Scott is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Scott tries to reverse the position but Power maintains control.
Power looking to finish Scott with some ground and pound. This is bad for Scott!
Scott is bucking up trying to escape but Power cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Power lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Scott might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Scott tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Scott is working hard here to advance position.

Power wants to lay and pray for a moment but Scott keeps working.

Power lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Danny Power showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

That's time! Scott's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

Scott is looking for a triangle but Power pushes his legs off easily.

Scott had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Power defends it easily.
Scott is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Power avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Power lands a couple of digs.
Power in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Scott managing to control the position.

Scott is pulling down on Power's head. It's preventing any offense from Power, at least for the moment.
Power connects with a couple of short punches.

Power working some strikes from top position.
Power postures up in Scott's guard and throws a big left but Scott blocks it.

Scott has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Power can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Power slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Scott is striking off his back. Power thinks nothing of it though and passes easily into half guard.
Scott wants to control but Power is keeping busy.
Scott is refusing to be controlled, as Power sits in half guard.

Power is looking to stall here but Scott recovers full guard.
Scott is adopting a defensive guard.
Power chips away with some ground and pound.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

I would just about give that final round to Danny Power.
Well Power has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
