PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between James Lewis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rocky Walker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Walker comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Gonna Fly Now (metal version by Sylvain Cloux) kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Rocky Walker will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, James Lewis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rocky Walker!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, David Schapiro and Franklyn Lucas.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Walker slaps away a takedown attempt from Lewis, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Rocky Walker seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Lewis showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Walker.
Walker tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Walker lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Walker throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.

Walker clinches up against the cage.
Walker is trying to force a seperation but Lewis has the dominant position.

Walker breaks from the clinch.
Lewis will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Lewis fails with a takedown attempt.

Walker throws a nice outside leg kick.
Lewis is breathing heavily.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Walker shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Lewis's guard.

The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Walker tries to stand but Lewis is controlling from the bottom.

Walker stands up from Lewis's guard - Walker perhaps looking for a knockout.
Walker shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Lewis eats them both and turns towards Walker to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Walker tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

No joy there for Walker, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Jab, jab by Walker - just one landing.

Lewis shoots in for a double leg but Walker sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Walker pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Walker closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Lewis manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Walker wants to control from the top but Lewis keeps moving.

Lewis manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Walker manages to get himself to full guard.

The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

James Lewis has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Lewis slips a jab and a cross from Walker.
Walker throws a nice looking combination but Lewis bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Lewis shoots and misses
and Walker counters with a two punch combo.

Walker forces Lewis back against the cage and clinches.
Lewis jumps guard but Walker turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Lewis tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Walker smiles and moves away.

Walker dives in and scores a takedown into Lewis's guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Walker stands up from guard. Let's bang!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Walker feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Walker slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Walker wants to control from the top but Lewis keeps moving.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Walker pushes Lewis away with a front kick.
Lewis tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Walker swivels and escapes.
Walker turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.

Lewis closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Walker did well to prevent Lewis getting side control.
Lewis seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Walker does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
A looping hook to the body misses from Walker. Lewis does a little dance to reset his feet.

Walker pushes Lewis up against the cage in a clinch.

Walker escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Walker lands a jab-cross combination.
Walker looks to land a combination but Lewis avoids it well.
Lewis shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Walker as he jumps to the side.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Walker.
A head kick misses from Walker.
Walker tries to bum rush Lewis with a series of wild strikes but Lewis uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Walker pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Walker misses with a few strikes there.
Walker throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Lewis tries for a takedown but Walker sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Lewis tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Walker manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Walker throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
Lewis shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Walker as he avoids it easily.

Walker misses with a series of wild punches.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Walker tries a head kick but it misses.
Walker throws a leg kick but Lewis sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Horrible takedown by Lewis or perhaps it was just good defense by Walker which made him look bad.

Rocky Walker showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Lewis throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Walker's waist but Walker gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Lewis off to one side.
Walker throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Walker looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Walker throws a right and a left that both miss.
Lewis fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Walker drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Walker has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Lewis tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Walker presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Walker is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Lewis is surviving well by controlling Walker's body position as best he can.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Walker lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Lewis is looking to improve his position but Walker isn't that keen on the idea.

Walker is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Lewis can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Walker is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Lewis can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Walker is landing with some decent strikes but Lewis is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Walker breaks from Lewis's wrist control and lands an elbow.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Walker cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Oh Lewis is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Oooooh, big shot lands for Walker! Lewis is hurt baaadly! Walker is firing away with more strikes - Lewis is covering up... the ref is warning him to do something. He's just covering up though still and the ref has to step in to end the fight! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:55 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Rocky Walker!
An intense looking Rocky Walker took to the microphone post fight and gave a little speech: 'I'd like to thank Kaiser, Burning Fist, and my coaches and training partners at Cobra Kai.. coach says second place is no place! If the sky is falling on your head, don't say I didn't warn you.'.
