PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jack Bauer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johnny Ray Miranda (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Miranda comes into a darkened arena with his song building. I'm Not Alright from Shinedown kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Johnny Ray Miranda will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Miranda tries a head kick but it misses.
Miranda has a takedown stuffed.
Bauer tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Miranda swivels and escapes.
Miranda is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Bauer looks to land a body kick but Miranda moved away.

Miranda gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Bauer accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Bauer drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Miranda dives on top into guard.

Bauer escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Miranda gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Bauer is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Miranda works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Bauer has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Bauer is refusing to be controlled, as Miranda sits in half guard.

Bauer wants to improve his position but Miranda is controlling well.

Miranda really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Bauer. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Miranda is working for an americana but Bauer has been sneaky and has managed to get back to half guard, whilst Miranda was thinking about the submission.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Johnny Ray Miranda was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Miranda tries to score a power double leg takedown but Bauer sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Miranda somewhat.

Bauer drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Miranda manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Bauer has Miranda in his guard.

Miranda got a little sloppy there for a moment and Bauer has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Miranda has managed to get both his arms back between Bauer's legs - danger averted.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Bauer is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Miranda defends well.

Miranda tries to close the distance and clinch but Bauer swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Bauer jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Miranda is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Miranda and Bauer has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
