Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Anthony Esposito!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Anthony Pettis!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Yves DeLean and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pettis tries to clinch up

and Esposito counters by moving into the clinch.
Pettis is trying to stall.

Esposito gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Pettis regains guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Pettis wants to stand up but Esposito is controlling him.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Esposito is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Esposito wants to pass the guard but Pettis is keeping the position.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Pettis wants to control but Esposito is keeping busy.

Esposito has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Pettis has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Esposito is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Pettis knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Pettis for a finish.

Esposito bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Pettis's guard.

Esposito tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Esposito has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Esposito has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Esposito decides to stand back up. Esposito steps back and let's Pettis get back to his feet.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Esposito is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Pettis is just riding it out for now. Esposito eventually gives up the hold.

Esposito is taking a breather. Pettis says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Anthony Esposito overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Esposito feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
