PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jay Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lleyton Stiels (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Stiels's choice of entrance music: You're going down by Sick Puppies. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jay Jackson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Lleyton Stiels!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Stewart Dunkirk and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stiels is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Jackson leaves Stiels with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Stiels tries to close the distance and clinch but Jackson swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Stiels uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Jackson.

Stiels has closed the distance and engaged Jackson in a clinch.
Stiels has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Jackson avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Knees in the clinch landing for Stiels.
Stiels is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Jackson is defending well.
Jay Jackson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lleyton Stiels.
Jackson lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Stiels backwards.

Stiels rushes Jackson and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Jackson wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Jackson holds on and takes a little breather.

Jackson is pulling down on Stiels's head. It's preventing any offense from Stiels, at least for the moment.

Jackson pushes Stiels off and scrambles back to his feet.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Stiels doesn't manage to clinch there - Jackson circles away.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Jackson misses with a hook. Stiels ducked under it nicely.
Jackson throws a head kick that misses
and Stiels counters with a nice low kick that buckles Jackson's knee momentarily.
Stiels has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Jay Jackson will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Jackson closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Stiels's guard.
Stiels wants to get back to his feet but Jackson is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Jackson works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Stiels tries to kick Jackson off in order to stand up. Jackson Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.

Jackson is trying to get an arm triangle but Stiels is defending well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jackson looks up at the clock and then as Stiels takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Jackson smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Jackson tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Jackson has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Jackson lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Stiels circles away quickly and effectively.
Stiels doesn't manage to clinch there - Jackson circles away.
Stiels tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Jackson paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Jackson tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Stiels swivels and escapes.

Stiels jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Jackson walks away with a smile on his face. Stiels gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Jackson, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
