PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tinker Evers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jackie McClelland (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Evers might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Call Me from Shinedown. McClelland has chosen The Boys Are Back - HSM3 as his entrance music. Tinker Evers has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Tinker Evers!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jackie McClelland!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Yves DeLean and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Evers misses with a double jab.
McClelland slaps away a takedown attempt from Evers, before circling back to the center of the mat.

McClelland closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Evers's guard.
McClelland content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
McClelland throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Evers works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
McClelland loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Evers looking for a sweep. Not yet Evers, not yet.
Evers preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

McClelland drops back, looking for a kneebar! Evers looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Evers looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Evers!

McClelland is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Evers is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Evers is looking for a sweep.
Evers knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for McClelland on the ground.
Evers takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

McClelland tries for a kimura but Evers is defending well.
Evers is looking to reverse the position.
McClelland has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Evers wants to control but McClelland postures up.

McClelland in side control lands a decent elbow.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

McClelland is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Evers has escaped the position, nice work there.
McClelland is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
McClelland lands an elbow.

McClelland wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Evers, who protects the arm well.
Evers is trying to control McClelland's posture but McClelland avoids it.

McClelland tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no McClelland has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Evers is trying to get back to half guard.
Evers on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Evers tries to get out of the position.

McClelland decides to stand up, so the ref orders Evers to his feet.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Evers.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jackie McClelland dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


McClelland tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Evers scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

Evers swings around for an armbar but McClelland sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Evers's guard.

McClelland tries to pass the half guard into mount. Evers knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Evers might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

McClelland stands up out of the half guard.

McClelland rushes Evers and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
McClelland is pressed up against the cage. Evers has hold of a leg and is looking to drag McClelland down to the mat. McClelland avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Evers shoots for a double leg takedown but McClelland sprawls well. He's pushed Evers's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

McClelland doesn't manage to clinch there - Evers circles away.

Evers closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. McClelland quickly recovers to half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

McClelland is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Evers is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Evers has escaped and now he's on top!

McClelland wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

A close second round but Jackie McClelland will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. And we move into the final round!


Evers shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with McClelland but McClelland pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Evers postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! McClelland is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Evers, into his guard.

Jackie McClelland comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well McClelland has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
