The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Douglas shoots and misses

and Smith counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Douglas!
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Douglas is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Smith prevents Douglas from getting the reversal.
Smith tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Douglas is squirming around, avoiding Smith's attempts to control the action.

Smith trying to control but Douglas is having none of it.

Smith with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Smith throwing strikes here but Douglas is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
BOOM! Smith connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Smith could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Smith breaks from Douglas's wrist control and lands an elbow.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Smith can't control as he wanted to and Douglas manages to get the fight back to his half guard.

Douglas is trying to stand up here but Smith is controlling him well.
Smith is trying to control. Douglas wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Smith throws a strike but Douglas avoids it easily and moves to full guard.

Smith with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

Douglas has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Smith can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Smith gets to his feet. Douglas looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Smith tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Douglas has his takedown stuffed

and Smith counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Smith postures up in Douglas's guard and throws a big left but Douglas blocks it.
Smith advances position into side control!

Smith swings around for an armbar but Douglas sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Smith's guard.

Douglas is posturing up here but Smith has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Douglas tries to roll out but it's too tight and Douglas has to tap! Slick submission there by Smith!
