PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Damian Drake (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Demetrius Colrane (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Drake comes into the arena with War is my Destiny blaring out of the sound system. Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Damian Drake!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Demetrius Colrane!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Elvis Blanc and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Colrane shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Colrane showed some decent athleticism there.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Drake is trying to stand back up but Colrane is controlling him
Drake blocking the ground and pound attempt from Colrane.
Colrane throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Colrane lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Colrane wants to free his trapped foot but Drake is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Drake tries to kick Colrane off but Colrane keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Colrane throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Colrane landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.

Colrane stops Drake from getting back to his feet.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Colrane connects with a nice short shot to Drake's temple.
Colrane winds up and cracks Drake with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Drake tries to kick Colrane off but Colrane keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Drake is not content to let Colrane control the position.
Drake wants to get back to his feet.

Colrane is looking to stall here but Drake recovers full guard.
Colrane postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Drake is looking to stand up but Colrane isn't so interested in that idea.

Colrane throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Drake works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Colrane not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Drake wants to get back to his feet.

Drake keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Colrane pushes Drake up against the cage in a clinch.
Drake wants to break free but Colrane has control.

Drake breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Colrane walks into a straight right hand from Drake.

Drake gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Drake breaks from the clinch.
Colrane changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Drake throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Colrane is looking to clinch.
Colrane checks the leg kick.
Drake rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Colrane moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Colrane moves out of range of the strikes.
Drake scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
Drake lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Drake swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Colrane moves into the clinch successfully.

Colrane has Drake pressed against the cage, preventing Drake from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Colrane has Drake pushed against the cage.
Colrane works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
Colrane swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Drake tries to break free but Colrane pushes him back against the cage.
Colrane lands a body punch.
Colrane lands with a left to the head.
Colrane works on Drake's body with a couple of short punches.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Colrane lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Drake or not.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Colrane lands a right hand that snaps the head of Drake backwards.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Colrane.

Colrane jumps guard and drags Drake to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Colrane is adopting a defensive guard.
Colrane tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Colrane looking to control but Drake passes into half guard.
Colrane wants to improve his position but Drake is controlling well.
Colrane gets full guard.
Demetrius Colrane has got the better of the ground game so far.

Colrane looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Drake has picked Colrane up and slammed him! Colrane can't keep hold of the triangle and Drake manages to pass to side control!
Colrane regains half guard.
Colrane wants to control but Drake is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Drake seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Colrane does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Drake wants to stand up but Colrane has a hold of him and won't allow it.
Colrane has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Drake is working away from the top position though.

Colrane makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Colrane.
Drake wants to control from the top but Colrane keeps moving.
Colrane has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Colrane manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Colrane scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Drake?

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Drake in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.

Colrane is landing with some decent strikes but Drake is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.


Drake is rocked!


It looks like Damian Drake has been cut.
Colrane connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Oh Drake is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Colrane postures up and throws a couple of big shots that have Drake in real trouble here! The ref calls for Drake to improve his position which he doesn't do, so the referee has no choice but to end the fight due to the strikes!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:40 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Demetrius Colrane!
A very excited looking Demetrius Colrane made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
