Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Franck Pompi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ray Finkle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pompi comes to the cage accompanied by Dirty House. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 9 - 0, fighting out of New York, Franck Pompi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ray Finkle!
The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, David Schapiro and Jonathan Paton.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pompi swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Finkle.
Finkle scores with a jab to the head.
Pompi throws a solid leg kick but Finkle takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Pompi.
Pompi misses with a low kick.
Finkle checks a leg kick nicely.
Finkle displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Pompi throws out the jab.
Finkle has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Pompi finds it's way round the side to connect with Finkle's head.

Pompi scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Finkle can do anything to dispel that myth.

Pompi seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Finkle for as long as he can get away with.
BOOM! Pompi connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Pompi has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Pompi is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Finkle can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Pompi lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Pompi takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Finkle really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Pompi. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Finkle tries to lock up and control but Pompi gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Pompi lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Finkle tries to clinch up but Pompi circles away and keeps his distance.
Finkle jabbing away but nothing is landing.

Finkle throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
Finkle swings wildly with an uppercut but Pompi uses good head movement to avoid it.

Finkle tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Pompi's elbow.

Finkle lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Pompi backwards.

Pompi's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

A jab from Pompi misses.
Jab, jab by Finkle - just one landing.
Finkle misses with a head kick.
Finkle avoids a punch combination nicely.
Pompi lands with an uppercut that bounces Finkle off the cage and back into range.

Finkle is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Pompi is defending well for now.

Pompi is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Finkle pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Finkle has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Pompi on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.

Pompi drops down looking for an ankle pick but Finkle pulls his leg out and moves away.

Pompi closes this distance looking for a takedown but Finkle circles away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Franck Pompi. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Finkle does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

Pompi blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Finkle tries a body shot but Pompi blocks it.
Finkle comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.

Ray Finkle showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Finkle with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Pompi to score with a decent uppercut.
Finkle tries to close the distance and clinch up but Pompi swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Pompi passes Finkle's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Well, if Pompi is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Pompi uses his free foot to push down on Finkle's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Finkle.
Pompi sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

Pompi has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
