Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Dick Roman and Henry Jones. Jones has chosen Raiders March as his entrance music. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 wins, 0 losses and 0 draws, fighting out of Montreal, Henry Jones!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Steve Smith and William Peck.



The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jones shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Roman napping and manages to drive through into side control!
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Roman is not content to let Jones control the position.
Jones lands some shots froms side control.
You can see the frustration on Roman's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Roman is looking to regain half guard here but Jones keeps moving and retains side control.
Jones tries to advance to mount but can't.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Jones in side control lands a decent elbow.
Roman is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Roman takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Jones landing with strikes to the head and body from side control.
Jones scores with a couple of short elbows.
Jones looks up at the clock and then as Roman takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Jones smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Jones in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
Jones is chipping away with strikes.
Roman is being controlled here.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Jones lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Jones lands an elbow.
Jones cracks Roman with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Roman is not in a great position here, taking some shots.

Jones stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Roman showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Jones.
Jones scores with a hook to the body. Roman takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.

Jones feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Jones lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Jones cracks Roman with a solid left hand.
Jones is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Roman trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
Jones stays in close to Roman's body and controls the position.

Jones stands and steps away. Roman gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Jones misses with a jab, cross combination.
Jones throws a right and a left that both miss.
Roman fails to land the takedown.
Jones throws a right and a left that Roman avoids nicely.
Jones looks to land a combination but Roman avoids it well.
Roman is trying hard to land a takedown here. Jones sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Jones stalks Roman and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Roman's face. Roman staggers backwards, shaken.
Jones misses with a series of wild punches.

Roman wants to clinch up but Jones keeps it at a distance.

Jones shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Roman eats them both and turns towards Jones to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Roman fails with the takedown
and Jones counters with a stiff right hand.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dick Roman. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Jones throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Roman.
Jones lands a two punch combo.
Roman moves out of range as Jones strikes.
Jones fails to land with a series of punches.
Jones misses with a head kick.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Roman closes this distance looking for a takedown but Jones circles away.

and Jones decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Roman's guard.
Jones wants to control from the top but Roman keeps moving.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Henry Jones dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the ring so we can get back down to business.

Jones looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

and Roman counters with a good low kick that Jones was not able to check.
Roman avoids the head kick by Jones.
Roman displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Jones throws out the jab.
Roman shoots in for a double leg but Jones sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Jones throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Roman is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Jones's half guard.

Roman is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.

Jones is looking for a sweep. Roman is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Roman is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.
Roman wants to get up but he can't break Jones's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Roman forces his way into half guard.

Jones gets back to full guard.
Henry Jones has got the better of the ground game so far.

Jones pulls Roman in close to his closed guard and prevents Roman from doing any damage or advancing position.
Roman looking to sit in guard and control but Jones gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Jones is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Jones wants to control from the top but Roman keeps moving.

Jones postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Jones with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Jones must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Jones shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Jones showed some decent athleticism there.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Jones connects with a nice short shot to Roman's temple.
Well, if Jones is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Jones lands a nice short elbow.
Roman wants to control but Jones is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Jones has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Jones is trying to control the action in half guard but Roman is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Jones looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Roman with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Roman takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Jones looks up at the clock and then as Roman takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Jones smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Jones is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Roman has escaped the position, nice work there.
Roman takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.

Jones cracks Roman with a big right hand but Roman just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

Jones tries to advance to mount but Roman denies him.
Jones grinds an elbow into Roman's temple.
Henry Jones is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Jones remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Henry Jones comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Jones has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

After the fight, Henry Jones was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
