Liddell's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, It's Dark and Hell Is Hot. Ray Leonard has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 19 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Chuck Liddell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Ray Leonard!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Chris Saunders and Ryoma Takatsuka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Leonard looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.


It looks like Ray Leonard has been cut.
Leonard shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Liddell defends it nicely.
Ray Leonard seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Leonard looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
That kick from Liddell tenderised Leonard's leg. Leonard is trying to keep his angry face on.
Leonard misses with a takedown

and Liddell counters with a takedown into side control.
Chuck Liddell has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ray Leonard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Liddell is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Leonard has escaped the position, nice work there.
Leonard takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Leonard throwing some weak shots from the bottom that do no damage.

Liddell just content to control the position.

Liddell decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Leonard misses with a two punch combination.

Leonard gets a clinch.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Leonard just misses with a elbow thrown towards Liddell's brow.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Liddell.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Leonard with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Leonard misses with a shot to the kidneys.

Liddell breaks from the clinch.

Liddell bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
The referee asks Liddell politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Liddell prefers to stall for the moment though.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Leonard manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Leonard stalling away here and it's allowed Liddell to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
Leonard trying to control the position from guard on top but Liddell is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Leonard loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Liddell pulls Leonard in close to prevent any damage.
Liddell has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Liddell wants to sweep here but Leonard controlling him for the moment.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Chuck Liddell wasn't doing enough on the ground.

Liddell clinches.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Liddell pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Leonard closes this distance looking for a takedown but Liddell circles away.
Liddell jabs at Leonard's body.
Leonard takes a body punch but keeps moving.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Leonard.
Leonard looks gassed!

Liddell closes the distance and clinches.
Leonard trying to land knees to the body.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Liddell breaks from the clinch.
Liddell with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chuck Liddell dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Ray Leonard's cut.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Liddell lands a glancing blow to the side of Leonard's head.
Leonard misses with a low kick as Liddell jumps back.
Leonard on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Liddell. Liddell obviously looking to wear him down.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Leonard tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Chuck Liddell is winning the standup battle so far.

Liddell bobbing and weaving well here. And he's unloaded with a massive right hand that drops Leonard! He dives into his guard looking to finish!


Leonard is rocked!
Leonard can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Liddell controls the pace.
Leonard is still in real trouble! Can Liddell finish him?
Leonard seems to have recovered his senses.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Leonard is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Liddell is aware though and is defending well.
Leonard is breathing heavily.

Liddell engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

We're going to have a standup here because Chuck Liddell wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Liddell.

Liddell is working to tighten is grip on Leonard's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Leonard has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Liddell is really squeezing tight and eventually Leonard passes out! Liddell breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:39 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Chuck Liddell!
