PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jukkis Karvakorva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Oliver Fran (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Karvakorva comes to the cage accompanied by DIABLO - Icaros . I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Oliver Fran was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 11 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, Jukkis Karvakorva!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Oliver Fran!
The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Colin Fray and Jeff Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Fran manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Karvakorva on his heels. He'll look to pass Karvakorva's guard now, I'm sure.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Fran stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Karvakorva swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Fran drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Karvakorva manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Fran has Karvakorva in his guard.
Karvakorva might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Karvakorva is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Fran keeping moving, preventing Karvakorva from controlling successfully.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Fran working for a triangle but Karvakorva defends it easily.

Fran looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Karvakorva got a little sloppy there for a moment and Fran has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Karvakorva has managed to get both his arms back between Fran's legs - danger averted.

Karvakorva takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Still in half guard, Karvakorva seems content to control.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Jukkis Karvakorva.

Fran closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Fran lands in his opponent's guard.
Karvakorva seems keen to control Fran's posture.
Fran tries to free his leg and advance position but Karvakorva is retaining full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Karvakorva tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Karvakorva passes Fran's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Karvakorva uses his free foot to push down on Fran's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Fran.
Karvakorva tries to control but Fran wriggling away.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Fran tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Karvakorva lands a big shot there that rocks Fran but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Fran tries to reverse the position but Karvakorva maintains control.

Karvakorva lands a big shot there that rocks Fran but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Fran is in a horrible position here. Karvakorva smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Fran is trying to escape the mount.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Karvakorva lands with some strikes.
Karvakorva is landing with some decent strikes but Fran is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Karvakorva content just to control the position here.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jukkis Karvakorva dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Fran is rocked!
Karvakorva seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Fran is still in real trouble! Can Karvakorva finish him?
Karvakorva distracts Fran with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Karvakorva has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Karvakorva slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Karvakorva has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Jukkis Karvakorva just wasn't active enough.
Karvakorva wobbles Fran with a right hand and the left hook that follows puts him on his rear! Karvakorva dives in with a huge flying punch that connects right on the button and puts Fran to sleep! - What a violent and spectacular finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:27 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Jukkis Karvakorva!
A relieved looking Jukkis Karvakorva thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
