PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Taylor Griffin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Justin Fighter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Griffin comes to the cage accompanied by Champions. Taylor Griffin had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 186.6lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Taylor Griffin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Justin Fighter!
The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Shigeki Fujiwara and Taro Takaoka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fighter scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.


It looks like Taylor Griffin has been cut.
Griffin bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Fighter's head.

Griffin decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Griffin wants to stand but Fighter has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Griffin is looking to take a break and control but Fighter is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Fighter wants to get back to his feet.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Fighter trying to control here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Griffin sitting and controlling from the half guard.

Griffin is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Fighter sees it coming and defends easily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Fighter is not content to let Griffin control the position.
Fighter trying to control from the bottom.
Fighter is refusing to be controlled, as Griffin sits in half guard.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Fighter lands with a good body shot.
Justin Fighter is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Fighter swings for the body but Griffin moves out of range.
Fighter lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Griffin at a distance.

Griffin shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Griffin is breathing heavily.
Griffin wants to free his trapped foot but Fighter is holding on for dear life with his legs.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Fighter pushes Griffin off looking to stand but Griffin dives back in and keeps control.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Griffin wants to control but Fighter is keeping him busy.
Fighter trying to hold on to Griffin's head to control him but Griffin postures up.
Griffin is pressing down on Fighter's thigh, looking to free his foot. Fighter is holding on for now.
Griffin controlling the action here.

We're going to have a standup here because Taylor Griffin wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Griffin gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Fighter.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Fighter misses with a body kick.
A big right from Fighter misses.

Griffin shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Griffin was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Griffin trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Fighter is in all sorts of trouble here.

Griffin is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Fighter is surviving well by controlling Griffin's body position as best he can.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Fighter regains half guard.
Fighter is staying active underneath Griffin, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Fighter is trying to stand up here but Griffin is controlling him well.
Griffin is looking to take a break and control but Fighter is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Griffin in particular looking to stall.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Griffin wants to stand up but Fighter has a hold of him and won't allow it.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Taylor Griffin will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Taylor Griffin's cut.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Griffin tries a head kick but it misses.
Nice jab there from Fighter.
Griffin has a takedown stuffed.
Fighter fakes the leg kick and cracks Griffin in the body.
Taylor Griffin is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Fighter lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Oooh a lovely combination from Fighter sends Griffin down but not out. Fighter dives into side control looking to finish.


Griffin is rocked!
This has been an exciting period of action!

Fighter decides to stand back up. Fighter steps back and let's Griffin get back to his feet.
Oh Griffin is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Fighter weaves into range and cracks Griffin right on the temple with a beautiful overhand right! Griffin goes down! He's out cold! Wow, what a beautiful knockout! Fighter is strutting round the canvas like a movie star as the camera bulbs flash frantically.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:35 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Justin Fighter!
