PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ichiro Yamamoto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Keisuke Yamazaki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ichiro Yamamoto!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Keisuke Yamazaki!
The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Yukihiro Shimada.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Yamamoto looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Yamazaki misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Yamazaki gets a takedown into half guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Yamamoto wants to get back to full guard.

Yamazaki looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Keisuke Yamazaki wasn't active enough on the ground.
Yamazaki misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Yamamoto has Yamazaki up against the cage in a clinch.
Yamazaki jumps guard but Yamamoto stands there with Yamazaki around his waist. Yamazaki gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Ichiro Yamamoto has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Keisuke Yamazaki.
A bit of stalling here from Yamamoto.
Yamamoto is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Yamazaki gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Yamamoto is fighting off a takedown attempt but Yamazaki is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Yamamoto to the mat. Yamamoto regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

and Yamamoto counters with a single leg into guard. Yamazaki didn't expect that.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Yamazaki is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Yamamoto defends well.
Yamazaki is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Ichiro Yamamoto.

Yamazaki has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Yamamoto after a bit of a struggle.

Yamamoto jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Yamazaki walks away with a smile on his face. Yamamoto gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Yamamoto closes the distance and clinches.
Yamazaki wants to stall.
Yamamoto drops down looking for an ankle pick but Yamazaki pulls his leg out and moves away.
Yamazaki changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Yamamoto tries to avoid it but Yamazaki manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Yamamoto to the ground. Yamamoto escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Yamamoto lands with a slapping head kick.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Yamazaki drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Yamazaki takes a little break here. Yamamoto wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Keisuke Yamazaki will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Keisuke Yamazaki has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Yamazaki shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Yamazaki showed some decent athleticism there.

Yamamoto is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Yamazaki pulls his head out easily.
Yamazaki is taking a breather. Yamamoto says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Yamazaki decides to stand and escape the position.

and Yamazaki counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Yamamoto wants to get back to full guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Yamazaki in particular looking to stall.
Yamazaki's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Yamamoto has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Yamazaki is working away from the top position though.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Yamazaki seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Keisuke Yamazaki hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Yamamoto shoots in for a double leg but Yamazaki sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Yamazaki drives through with a takedown into Yamamoto's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Yamazaki decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Yamamoto, up you get!
Yamamoto moves in looking to clinch but Yamazaki pushes him off.

Yamazaki tightens his grip and picks Yamamoto up, before dumping him to the ground. Yamamoto manages to land in guard.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Keisuke Yamazaki showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Yamazaki defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Yamamoto.

Yamazaki closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Yamazaki lands in his opponent's guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Yamazaki is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Keisuke Yamazaki was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Yamazaki fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Yamamoto tests Yamazaki's chin there with a solid looking shot.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Yamamoto feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Yamazaki manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Yamamoto wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.

Yamazaki has managed to slip his arm under Yamamoto's chin. This could be all over... yep, Yamamoto is tapping out! Submission win for Yamazaki.
