Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Toshi Matoshin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Simon Racaza (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Matoshin comes to the cage accompanied by Mortal Kombat theme. The crowd seem to be enjoying Racaza's choice of entrance music: Spiderbait - Black Betty . Simon Racaza will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Toshi Matoshin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Simon Racaza!
The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Daniel Blasius and Radbod Blank.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Racaza swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Matoshin walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Racaza punishes Matoshin's body with a nice straight punch.
Racaza closes the distance looking to clinch

so Matoshin counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Racaza is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Matoshin stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Racaza swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Matoshin postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Racaza is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Matoshin, into his guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Matoshin is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Matoshin looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.

Matoshin is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Racaza doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Matoshin.

Matoshin is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Matoshin is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Racaza is just riding it out for now. Matoshin eventually gives up the hold.

Matoshin is working for a submission of some sort.

Matoshin is working for a kimura but Racaza is defending it quite comfortably.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Racaza wants to get back to his feet.
Matoshin is trying to control the action in half guard but Racaza is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Racaza is trying to stand back up but Matoshin is controlling him
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Toshi Matoshin dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Racaza misses with an uppercut. Matoshin saw that one coming.
Racaza doesn't manage to clinch there - Matoshin circles away.

Racaza is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Matoshin's half guard.
Matoshin trying to hold on to Racaza's head to control him but Racaza postures up.

Matoshin actively working from the bottom here.

Racaza seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Matoshin wants to get back to full guard.
Matoshin wants to control but Racaza is keeping busy.
Racaza wants to control but Matoshin is keeping him busy.
Matoshin trying to get back to full guard but Racaza takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount!
Matoshin is looking to get to half guard.

Matoshin is working hard here to advance position.
Racaza controlling the pace for now.
Matoshin sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Matoshin tries to roll over but Racaza keeps him under control.

Racaza moves into side control, avoiding a weak kimura attempt from Matoshin.
Matoshin sneaks back into half guard.
It looks like Racaza is going to stand back up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Matoshin wants to improve his position but Racaza is controlling well.
Racaza wants to stand up but Matoshin has a hold of him and won't allow it.

Matoshin looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Racaza really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Matoshin. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Matoshin tries to roll over but Racaza keeps him under control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Toshi Matoshin will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Racaza misses with a two punch combination.
Matoshin slips a jab and a cross from Racaza.
Matoshin with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Racaza to score with a decent uppercut.
Matoshin closes the distance and clinches up with Racaza, looking for a takedown. Matoshin pushes Racaza against the cage but Racaza circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Racaza tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Matoshin was well out of range. Poor timing from Racaza.
Racaza is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Matoshin misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Matoshin fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Racaza looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Matoshin changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Racaza tries to avoid it but Matoshin manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Racaza to the ground. Racaza escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Toshi Matoshin. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Racaza stuffs the takedown attempt from Matoshin. Matoshin gets slowly back to his feet.
Racaza misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Racaza ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Matoshin walks into a straight right hand from Racaza.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Matoshin.

Matoshin is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Racaza has escaped the position, nice work there.

Matoshin goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Racaza has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Matoshin but great work by Racaza.
Toshi Matoshin is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Matoshin stuck in half guard on the bottom here.
Matoshin is trying to improve his position.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Racaza tries to stand but Matoshin is controlling his head.
Matoshin is trying to get back to half guard.
Matoshin can't do much from the bottom here.
Simon Racaza has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Matoshin regains half guard.
Matoshin is trying to control but Racaza passes into side control!

Matoshin tries to improve position but can't.
Matoshin wants to control but Racaza postures up.
Matoshin tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Racaza easily slips into full mount!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Matoshin holds of for dear life.

And that's the end of the fight!
Toshi Matoshin showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Matoshin, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
