Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Whitepride Velasquez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Coalman Gracie!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, George Francis and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Velasquez fails with the takedown

and Gracie counters with a takedown into side control.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Gracie working the ground and pound.
Velasquez is looking to reverse the position.
Velasquez manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Gracie winds up and cracks Velasquez with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Velasquez wants to improve his position but Gracie is controlling well.
Gracie trying to control the pace.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Velasquez looking for subs from the bottom but Gracie mounts him!
Velasquez really trying hard to get back to half guard here.

Velasquez sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Velasquez is in trouble now - Gracie has advanced to mount!

Gracie working for a guillotine from mount but Velasquez is in no mood to give up.

Velasquez tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Gracie can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Velasquez is looking to escape.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Velasquez is wriggling around trying to escape.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gracie is landing with some decent strikes but Velasquez is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Gracie prevents Velasquez from getting the reversal.
Velasquez in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
Gracie takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Velasquez is trying desperately to improve position.

It looks like Whitepride Velasquez has been cut.
Gracie breaks from Velasquez's wrist control and lands an elbow.


Whitepride Velasquez's cut is getting worse.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Velasquez sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Ground and pound from Gracie.
Velasquez is pressing down on Gracie's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Gracie trying to control the position from guard on top but Velasquez is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Gracie avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Gracie chips away with some ground and pound.
Gracie distracts Velasquez with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Velasquez keeping moving, preventing Gracie from controlling successfully.

Whitepride Velasquez's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Gracie seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Velasquez keeping moving, preventing Gracie from controlling successfully.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Gracie pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Velasquez is keeping the position for now.

Velasquez has his foot on Gracie's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Gracie works his way back into a safe position though.

Velasquez has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Gracie can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Velasquez isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Gracie stacks Velasquez on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Gracie!
Check out the look on Gracie's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Velasquez is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Gracie wants to lay and pray for a moment but Velasquez keeps working.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Coalman Gracie dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Whitepride Velasquez's cut.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Gracie throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Velasquez throws a big shot that misses.
Velasquez throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Gracie feints and as Velasquez raises his hands in defense, Gracie changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Gracie wants to control from the top but Velasquez keeps moving.

Velasquez working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Gracie has passed into half guard!

Velasquez looking for submissions off his back.
Gracie seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Velasquez does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Velasquez is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Gracie pulls his head out easily.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Whitepride Velasquez's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Coalman Gracie!
Coalman Gracie decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
