Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dmitiy Ushkanov!
The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, John Kavanagh and Columbo Gatti.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nixon closes the distance and clinches up with Ushkanov, looking for a takedown. Nixon pushes Ushkanov against the cage but Ushkanov circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Nixon shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Ushkanov counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Ushkanov.
Nixon stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.

Nixon jumps guard.
Nixon really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Ushkanov not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Ushkanov wants to stand but Nixon is controlling his posture from full guard.
Ushkanov stops Nixon from standing up.
Ushkanov with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

Nixon looking for a sweep. Not yet Nixon, not yet.
Ushkanov wants to pass the guard but Nixon is keeping the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ushkanov trying to control but Nixon is working from the bottom.

Ushkanov wants to control from the top but Nixon keeps moving.

Nixon looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Nixon is on top in guard.

Ushkanov can't keep his opponent in guard - Nixon advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Nixon lands a nice short elbow.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Nixon stalling.
Ushkanov tries to kick Nixon off in order to stand up. Nixon Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.
Nixon is looking to take a break and control but Ushkanov is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Ushkanov is trying to control Nixon's posture but Nixon avoids it.

Nixon stands up.
Nixon fails in his attempt to clinch.
Nixon doesn't manage to clinch there - Ushkanov circles away.
Nixon fails with the takedown.

Ushkanov shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Nixon sprawls well. Nixon wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Ushkanov gets slowly back to his feet.

Ushkanov is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Nixon to keep the fight standing.
Ushkanov drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Nixon keeps control of Ushkanov as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Ushkanov blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Ushkanov breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Ushkanov slaps away a takedown attempt from Nixon, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Ushkanov fails with an attempt to clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Nixon's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Ushkanov shoots in for a takedown but Nixon shows good takedown defense.

Ushkanov looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Ushkanov postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Nixon is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Ushkanov, into his guard.

Nixon decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Ushkanov, up you get!

and Ushkanov holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Nixon tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Ushkanov smiles and moves away.

Nixon throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Ushkanov was covering up waiting for the punch and Nixon finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Ushkanov is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Nixon decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Ushkanov, up you get!
The fight stays on the outside here - Nixon looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Nixon gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Nixon tries a knee to the head but Ushkanov blocks it.

Ushkanov breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Nixon shoots for a double leg takedown but Ushkanov sprawls well. He's pushed Nixon's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Ushkanov digs a good hook to Nixon's body.
Ushkanov throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Nixon counters with a big head kick but Ushkanov shrugs it off.

Ushkanov closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Ushkanov gets control of Nixon's arms and successfully pulls guard. Ushkanov will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Ushkanov really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Nixon. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Nixon is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Ushkanov escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Ushkanov moves in looking to clinch but Nixon pushes him off.

Ushkanov breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

and Nixon counters with a left and a right that stings Ushkanov.

and Nixon counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

Ushkanov is trying hard to land a takedown here. Nixon sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Ushkanov takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Nixon will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Nixon pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Ushkanov tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Nixon swivels and escapes.

Ushkanov gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Nixon to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Nixon looks up at the clock and then as Ushkanov takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Nixon smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
