PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Levi Zimmerman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Saint Bernard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Zimmerman comes into the arena with A Country Boy Can Survive blaring out of the sound system. Saint Bernard will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Saint Bernard!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Hugh Johnson and Winston Howard.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bernard tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Zimmerman counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Zimmerman is pushing down on Bernard's leg trying to pass to half guard. Bernard is fighting to maintain full guard but Zimmerman has managed to sneak the leg through.
Zimmerman is trying to control the action in half guard but Bernard is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Bernard is trying to stand up here but Zimmerman is controlling him well.

Zimmerman is trying to control. Bernard wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Bernard has one foot on Zimmerman's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Bernard tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Zimmerman manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

and Zimmerman counters with a body kick that stops Bernard in his tracks momentarily.
The fight stays on the outside here - Bernard looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Bernard tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Zimmerman manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Bernard swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Zimmerman counters with a thumping low kick.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Bernard wants to clinch but Zimmerman slips to the side

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bernard looks gassed!
Bernard is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Zimmerman has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Zimmerman controls the position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bernard is squirming around, avoiding Zimmerman's attempts to control the action.

Bernard really wants to buck Zimmerman off and get back to his feet.

Zimmerman takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Zimmerman lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Zimmerman cracks Bernard with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Bernard is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
Zimmerman breaks from Bernard's wrist control and lands an elbow.

Bernard is rocked!
Zimmerman lands a heavy shot. That's hurt Bernard! Zimmerman sees the opportunity and turns up the heat - strike after strike land to the defenseless Bernard and the ref dives in to save him! This one is all over!
