Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Bobo James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and JR Summers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Summers's choice of entrance music: Before I Forgot. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bobo James!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, JR Summers!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Cecil Peabody and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

James gets caught flat footed, as Summers shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
James wants to stand but Summers is controlling the position.
James has momentary wrist control but Summers slips an elbow through the middle.
James is trying to control the position but Summers postures up.
Summers throwing strikes from guard but James blocks nicely.
Summers throws a big elbow that misses.
Summers throws an elbow that misses. James uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Summers's guard. Nice move by James!

Summers wriggles free and stands up.
James lands a head kick. Summers smiles back at him and beckons him forward.


It looks like JR Summers has been cut.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Summers takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.

James gets caught napping as Summers dives in and scores a takedown. James manages to retain guard.
Summers trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Summers passes into half guard under a barage of strikes.

James kicks off Summers and gets to his feet.
James looks for a takedown but Summers sprawls well.

Summers shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has James pinned against the cage. James gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
James lands a head kick. Summers smiles back at him and beckons him forward.

James tries to close the distance and clinch but Summers swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
This has been an exciting period of action!
James lands a high kick!
A combination from Summers does no damage.
Summers shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as James sprawls well. James wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Summers gets slowly back to his feet.

James clinches.
Summers can't get the takedown.
Bobo James has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of JR Summers.
Summers is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. James is defending well for now.
James blocks a punch to the side of the head.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Summers just misses with a elbow thrown towards James's brow.

James breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
James moves in looking to clinch but Summers pushes him off.

Summers tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. James manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Summers drives through with a takedown into James's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
James wants to sweep but no luck.
James keeping moving, preventing Summers from controlling successfully.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Summers forces his way into half guard.
Summers frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

A close round but JR Summers will probably get the nod.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


A telegraphed takedown attempt from James is defended easily by Summers.
James tries to close the distance and clinch up but Summers swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Summers fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Bobo James seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

James looks to land a combination. Summers sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

Summers shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. James manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Summers works over James with some ground and pound from guard.
Summers won't allow James to get back to his feet.
James is trying to control the position but Summers postures up.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Summers accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Summers wants to control from the top but James keeps moving.
Summers has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Summers looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? James is fending him off so far but Summers persists. Nope, James circles away and we're back to standing.
James buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.

Summers closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. James did well to prevent Summers getting side control.

Summers is keen to just control but James is a slippery customer.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
James wants to improve his position but Summers is controlling well.
James is looking to escape.

Summers looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

You get the feeling that James really doesn't like being in this position too much.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Summers is trying to trip James. He has hold of a leg but James is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Summers persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
