Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between George Steele (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michael Martin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Steele's entrance music is Cinderella Man. A fine choice. Michael Martin acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Michael Martin!
The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Josh West and Colin Fray.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Martin misses with a body shot.
Martin misses with a few strikes there.
Steele waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Martin.
Martin is looking to slow Steele down with leg kicks.
Steele avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Steele throws an overhand right that lands on Martin's shoulder, as Martin tries to avoid the shot.
Martin jabs Steele to the body, keeping him at a distance.
An inside leg kick from Steele misses.
Steele throws a jab but it's blocked by Martin.
Martin swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Steele shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Steele is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Martin reverses the position - he's now on top in Steele's guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Steele looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Martin stopping the sweep attempt from Steele.
Steele can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Martin controls the pace.

Steele had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Martin defends it easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Steele keeping moving, preventing Martin from controlling successfully.
Martin won't allow Steele to sweep him here.
Martin not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Michael Martin.
Martin throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Steele on the side of the head.
Michael Martin is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Steele throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Martin keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Martin throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Steele sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Steele uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Martin.
Steele throws a low kick, looking for Martin's leg but Martin calmly moves out of range.
Steele takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Martin misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Martin's corner calls for a 1-2. Martin obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Martin moves away from the strike by Steele.
Martin looks to score with a jab to the body but Steele is just out of range.
Martin defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Steele.
Martin lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Steele connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Martin.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Martin bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Steele looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Martin tries to bum rush Steele with a series of wild strikes but Steele uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Martin takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Steele tries to clinch but Martin moves away
and Martin counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
The fight stays on the outside here - Steele looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Martin keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Martin throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Martin avoids the body shot from Steele.
Steele on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Steele has a takedown stuffed.
Jab from Martin.
Martin misses with a right hand

and Steele moves into the clinch.

That's five minutes gone in the round.
Martin wants to break free but Steele has control.
Martin wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Steele has him pressed against the cage.
A battle for position here, against the cage.
Martin blocks a body shot from Steele.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Martin.

Martin breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Steele shoots in for a double leg but Martin sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for George Steele. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Steele tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Martin manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Martin blocks a head kick by Steele.
A head kick misses from Steele.
Martin connects with a jab.

Steele clinches up against the cage.
Steele misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Steele fails to land with a short punch on the inside.

That's six minutes gone in the round.
Martin lands a left hand that snaps the head of Steele backwards.


Steele is rocked!

Martin's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Oh Steele is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Martin steps into range and unloads a brutal right left combo! Steele is out on his feet! Martin sets himself and nearly takes Steele's head off with a straight right, sending him crashing to the mat! Wow, that was nasty... but awesome! Wooo!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 6:12 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Michael Martin!

Michael Martin bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
