PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Pena Trasseli (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jonny Stevens (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Trasseli kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Look at my horse!. Jonny Stevens has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Pena Trasseli!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jonny Stevens!
The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Arvi Lind and Ben Zyskovitsi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stevens looks for a takedown but Trasseli sprawls well.
Stevens misses with a takedown
and Trasseli counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Stevens thinking.
Trasseli fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Stevens shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Trasseli defends it nicely.
Pena Trasseli has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jonny Stevens.

Stevens tries to score a power double leg takedown but Trasseli sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Stevens somewhat.

Trasseli fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Stevens manages to avoid it.

Stevens darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Stevens thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Trasseli's head.
Stevens is trying to control the action in half guard but Trasseli is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Trasseli has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Stevens is working away from the top position though.

Stevens stays in close to Trasseli's body and controls the position.

Stevens trying to control but Trasseli is working from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Stevens controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Jonny Stevens wasn't active enough on the ground.

Trasseli gets the takedown into side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Pena Trasseli dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Trasseli throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Stevens works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Trasseli wants to get up but he can't break Stevens's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Trasseli is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Pena Trasseli overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Stevens keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Trasseli lands with some strikes.
Trasseli postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Stevens looks a forlorn figure.

Trasseli connects with a bit shot that sees Stevens covering up! More strikes from Trasseli and the referee jumps in to stop the fight! Trasseli is our winner by TKO!
