PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Berry Fulcher (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tom Duncan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Duncan has chosen Haka as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Berry Fulcher!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 20 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tom Duncan!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Tiny Johnson and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Duncan rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Fulcher moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Tom Duncan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nice defenses there by Fulcher.
Duncan scores with a crisp jab that stopped Fulcher in his tracks.


It looks like Berry Fulcher has been cut.
Duncan throws a head kick but Fulcher moves out of range.
Duncan is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Fulcher tries to bum rush Duncan with a series of wild strikes but Duncan uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Fulcher tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Fulcher throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Duncan counters with a solid body kick.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Fulcher throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Duncan.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Duncan is trying to get an arm triangle but Fulcher is defending well.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Duncan wants to lay and pray for a moment but Fulcher keeps working.
Duncan is trying to ground and pound but Fulcher uses the momentary lack of control by Duncan to regain half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Duncan seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Fulcher does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Tom Duncan has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
A shot to the liver by Duncan. Beautiful body shot.

Duncan scores with a takedown into Fulcher's guard.
Duncan not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Duncan trying to control but Fulcher is working from the bottom.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

and Duncan holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Fulcher is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Duncan.
Duncan wants a takedown but no success here.
Duncan softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Fulcher is trying to break the clinch but Duncan is controlling him.
Fulcher is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Duncan is keeping busy.
Fulcher tries to work over Duncan's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Duncan dips a shoulder and cracks Fulcher with a mighty uppercut! Fulcher falls back against the cage and Duncan unloads with a barrage of strikes! Fulcher is completely out with his eyes open, only supported by the cage! Save him ref! Eventually the ref decides to do his job and jumps in - Duncan screams abuse at the incompetent official before going over to celebrate with his corner. Brutal stuff!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Tom Duncan!
