Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 8 - 0, fighting out of London, Erwin Tulfo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mirko Fillipovitch!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Chris Edwards and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Tulfo scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

Tulfo is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Fillipovitch knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Fillipovitch is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Tulfo seems to be working for a kimura but Fillipovitch defends the submission attempt.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Fillipovitch can do anything to dispel that myth.
Fillipovitch is pressing down on Tulfo's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Tulfo cracks Fillipovitch with a solid left hand.
Tulfo throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Fillipovitch works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Tulfo has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Tulfo landing some decent shots from guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Tulfo drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Tulfo jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Tulfo drops back, looking for a kneebar! Fillipovitch looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Fillipovitch looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Fillipovitch!
Tulfo tries to bench press Fillipovitch off him but Fillipovitch keeps the position.
Tulfo manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.

Tulfo is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Fillipovitch pulls his head out easily.
Tulfo moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Fillipovitch has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Tulfo to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Fillipovitch is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Tulfo pulls down on the head and he's put Fillipovitch to sleep! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Erwin Tulfo!
