PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Cup Tea (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Henry Ngo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Cup Tea!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Henry Ngo!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Donatello Bradman and Summer Carpenter.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tea tries a low kick but Ngo avoids it.
Ngo looks for a takedown but Tea sprawls well.
Ngo displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Tea.
Ngo shoots in for a takedown but Tea shows good takedown defense.
Tea fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Tea changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Ngo shoots for a takedown but Tea saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Cup Tea has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Henry Ngo.
Tea scores with a jab. Ngo acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Tea lands a lovely overhand right.
Tea lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Ngo at a distance.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Tea controls Ngo momentarily but Ngo frees himself.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ngo forces his way into half guard.
Ngo is trying to control the action in half guard but Tea is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Ngo throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Ngo is working for a kimura but Tea is defending it quite comfortably.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Tea is trying to get back to full guard.
Tea trying to hold on to Ngo's head to control him but Ngo postures up.

Ngo stops Tea from getting back to his feet.
Tea is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Ngo trying to pass the guard but Tea defending well.

Ngo is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Tea doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Ngo.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Tea is trying to stand.

Tea is trying to control but can't.
Tea is looking to improve his position.

Ngo is trying to work for a kimura but Tea is defending well.
Tea has hold of Ngo's hands but Ngo slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Tea tries to roll over but Ngo keeps him under control.

Ngo thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Tea's head.
Tea wants to control but Ngo is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Tea is trying to stand back up but Ngo is controlling him

Ngo is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Ngo stalling away here and it's allowed Tea to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Tea preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Tea has momentary wrist control but Ngo slips an elbow through the middle.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Henry Ngo dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Ngo shoots in looking for a takedown but Tea manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Ngo's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Horrible takedown by Ngo or perhaps it was just good defense by Tea which made him look bad.
Tea lands a slapping body shot.
Tea works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Cup Tea is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Ngo shoots in but no luck this time.
Cup Tea has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Henry Ngo.

Tea dives in and grabs Ngo's left leg, looking for a takedown. Ngo pushes down on Tea's head and hops out.

Tea ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Ngo moves away.

Ngo takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

Tea lands a nice looking body shot.
Cup Tea seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Ngo shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Tea sprawls well. Tea wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Ngo gets slowly back to his feet.

Ngo has a takedown stuffed.
Ngo is breathing heavily.
Tea lands with a good body shot.
Tea slips under a jab.
Ngo needs to keep his hands up - Tea had a free shot at his head there.
Tea connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Ngo will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Tea looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Ngo is fending him off so far but Tea persists. Nope, Ngo circles away and we're back to standing.
Tea misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Ngo.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Tea tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Tea is working hard here to advance position.

Tea throws Ngo to one side and escapes!
Tea goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Ngo keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Tea.
Ngo bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Tea misses with an uppercut. Ngo saw that one coming.
Tea throws a right and a left that both miss.
Ngo shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Tea sprawls well. Tea wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Ngo gets slowly back to his feet.

Tea tries to hold on but Ngo pushes him away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Cup Tea will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Tea takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Cup Tea is winning the standup battle so far.
Tea connects with a body shot that sends Ngo's belly button to the back.

Tea decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Tea goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Ngo rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Tea's guard! Nice work there by Ngo!
Ngo connects with a couple of short punches.

Ngo gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Tea swinging wildly here.
Tea rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Ngo moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Ngo tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Tea swivels and escapes.
No luck for Ngo with that takedown attempt.
Cup Tea has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Henry Ngo.
Ngo takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Ngo shoots for a takedown but Tea saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Tea cracks a nice hook into Ngo's ribs.

Tea throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Ngo tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Tea is in Ngo's guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Cup Tea.

Tea will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Ngo fails with a takedown attempt.
Ngo doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Ngo takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Tea looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Ngo takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Ngo takes one to the side of the head.
Ngo drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.

Donk. Tea catches Ngo right on the button with a cross.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Tea throws a series of strikes that have Ngo backpedaling.
Tea takes a swing at Ngo's ribcage but misses.
Ngo shoots in looking for a takedown. Tea tries to sprawl out of it but Ngo keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Tea manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Tea misses with a looping right.
Tea scores with a hook to the body. Ngo takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.

Ngo drives through with a takedown into Tea's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Henry Ngo has got the better of the ground game so far.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
