The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Horrible takedown by Kerbouchard or perhaps it was just good defense by Nguyen which made him look bad.
Kerbouchard tries for a takedown but Nguyen sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Kerbouchard tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Nguyen counters with a left and a right that stings Kerbouchard.
Kerbouchard takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Kerbouchard closes the distance and clinches up with Nguyen, looking for a takedown. Kerbouchard pushes Nguyen against the cage but Nguyen circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Michael Nguyen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mathurin Kerbouchard.

Nguyen has taken the fight to the clinch.
Kerbouchard tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Nguyen just stands there and leans against the cage.
Kerbouchard is trying to break the clinch but Nguyen has him pressed against the cage.

Kerbouchard is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Nguyen to keep the fight standing.

Nguyen drops Kerbouchard with a big knee straight up the middle! Kerbouchard is covering up against the cage but manages to escape and gets back to his feet!

Kerbouchard is rocked!

It looks like Mathurin Kerbouchard has been cut.

Mathurin Kerbouchard seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Kerbouchard gets tackled into the cage by Nguyen. Nguyen maintains the clinch.
Kerbouchard tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Nguyen smiles and moves away.

Nguyen cracks Kerbouchard with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Nguyen has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Kerbouchard to stand back up!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Nguyen dances in with a quick combination. Kerbouchard is being worked over with jabs and crosses. Oooh, a right straight from Nguyen snaps Kerbouchard's head back. Kerbouchard stumbles backwards against the cage. Nguyen steps forward and delivers a right cross that connects with Kerbouchard's jaw, simultaneously knocking him out and sending his mouthpiece into the crowd! There's a worthy souvenir for the fans. This one is over folks. Kerbouchard just didn't come prepared.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:10 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Michael Nguyen!
Michael Nguyen was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
