Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ricardo Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Darren Fogerty (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Darren Fogerty is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ricardo Gracie!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Darren Fogerty!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Ren Mimura.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fogerty throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Gracie throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Fogerty's head.
Gracie throws a hook to the side of Fogerty's head but Fogerty sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Ricardo Gracie seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Fogerty misses with a double jab
and Gracie counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Fogerty throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
No luck for Gracie with that takedown attempt.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Fogerty enables Gracie to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Fogerty manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Fogerty pulls Gracie in to control the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gracie looking to sit in guard and control but Fogerty gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Gracie bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Fogerty's guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Fogerty is controlling Gracie's posture.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Fogerty can do anything to dispel that myth.
Gracie passes Fogerty's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Fogerty is trying to get back to full guard.
Fogerty keeps control of the position for the meantime.
Gracie is trying to control the action in half guard but Fogerty is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Gracie wants to work for an arm triangle but Fogerty is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Gracie wants to lay and pray for a moment but Fogerty keeps working.

Fogerty is trying to get back to full guard.
Fogerty really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Gracie. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Gracie content to control rather than advance.
Fogerty wants to improve his position but Gracie is controlling well.
Gracie controlling the action here.

Gracie is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Gracie landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.

Fogerty tries to roll over but Gracie keeps him under control.
Fogerty is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Gracie is pressing down on Fogerty's thigh, looking to free his foot. Fogerty is holding on for now.
Gracie sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Fogerty defending well though.
Gracie passes the guard and advances to mount!

Gracie is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Fogerty to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Fogerty shrugs it off.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gracie wants to control the action but instead Fogerty gets a body lock and reverses into Gracie's guard! Nice work!

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Gracie has his feet on Fogerty's thighs here. He's pushed Fogerty off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Fogerty screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!

An out of breath Ricardo Gracie thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
