PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kara Hiri (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and George Steele (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Steele's choice of entrance music: Cinderella Man. George Steele told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hiri throws an overhand right that lands on Steele's shoulder, as Steele tries to avoid the shot.
Hiri lands with an uppercut that bounces Steele off the cage and back into range.
Hiri misses the shot to the body.
Steele throws the left hand but Hiri avoids the punch easily.
Steele fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Hiri cracks a nice hook into Steele's ribs.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Steele checks a leg kick.
Steele misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Steele moves out of range as Hiri strikes.
Hiri smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Steele shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Hiri pinned against the cage. Hiri gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Steele uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Hiri.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Steele closes the distance and clinches up with Hiri, looking for a takedown. Steele pushes Hiri against the cage but Hiri circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
A punch lands to the side of Steele 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Steele loads up on a big right hand but Hiri slips the punch.
Hiri scores with a jab to the jaw.
Hiri misses with a hook. Steele ducked under it nicely.
Hiri misses with a looping right.
Steele tries to close the distance and clinch up but Hiri swats him away and circles back towards the center.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Steele avoids a punch combination nicely.
Hiri scores with a nice right hand.
Hiri fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Steele checks it well.
Hiri misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Steele.
Hiri takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
No joy there for Steele, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Hiri connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.

Steele is rocked!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Hiri misses with an uppercut.
Steele is still on wobbly legs! Can Hiri finish him?
Hiri misses with a hook. Steele ducked under it nicely.
Steele just misses with a punch to the body.
Hiri rushes in with a sloppy looking punch

and Steele moves into the clinch.

A short body shot lands from Hiri as the two fighters clinch.

Hiri escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Hiri fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
A big right from Hiri misses.
Hiri shakes his hands by his side, trying to relax. Steele takes his eyes off the ball for a moment - Hiri sees the opportunity and cracks him with a massive hook! Steele bends double and collapses on top of himself - he's out! The crowd are going absolutely nuts! Wow, what a knockout!
