Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Ivan Turchin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Vladimir Subbotin!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Anni Minnemäki and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Subbotin defending well as Turchin loads up on a big left hand.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Subbotin.
Turchin lands a head kick!


It looks like Vladimir Subbotin has been cut.

Turchin tries to sprawl but Subbotin drives through with a takedown into half guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Turchin is trying to control but can't.
Turchin is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Subbotin in particular looking to stall.

Turchin is defending against the submission attempts here by Subbotin.
Turchin has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Subbotin is working away from the top position though.

Subbotin prevents Turchin from standing back up.
Turchin wants to get back to full guard.
Turchin is holding on to half guard well.
Subbotin wants to lay and pray for a moment but Turchin keeps working.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Turchin avoids the head kick by Subbotin.
Subbotin fails in his attempt to clinch.
Turchin looks for a takedown but Subbotin sprawls well.

Subbotin shoots in and bounces Turchin off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Subbotin wants to get up but he can't break Turchin's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Turchin is trying to control the position but Subbotin postures up.

Vladimir Subbotin has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Subbotin throws a head kick that misses.
Subbotin looks gassed!

Turchin feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Subbotin wants to control but Turchin is keeping busy.
Turchin wants to lay and pray for a moment but Subbotin keeps working.

We're going to have a standup here because Ivan Turchin wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Nice sprawl there from Turchin as Subbotin shoots in.

Turchin closes the distance and clinches.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Turchin breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The cut man is working on Vladimir Subbotin's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Subbotin fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Subbotin will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Subbotin defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Turchin.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Subbotin.
Ivan Turchin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Vladimir Subbotin.

Turchin bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Turchin is working to tighten is grip on Subbotin's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Subbotin has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Turchin is really squeezing tight and eventually Subbotin passes out! Turchin breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
