PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Barry Scott (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Viktor Sol (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Scott might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Bang - By Barry Scott. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Barry Scott!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Viktor Sol!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Hugh Johnson and Winston Howard.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sol gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Scott counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Scott sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Sol is trying to keep Scott in close.

Sol is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Scott controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Scott trying to control but Sol is working from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Barry Scott dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Sol will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Scott rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Sol counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Sol ducks under a wild hook from Scott.
Viktor Sol is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Sol gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Scott cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

The strikes coming from Sol are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Scott wants to control but Sol postures up.

Sol works to advance to full mount. Scott defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Sol looking to ground and pound but Scott is blocking nicely.
Sol throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Sol unloads with some shots from mount but Scott bucks and avoids them well.

Scott tries to lock up and control but Sol gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Sol has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Sol looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Sol throwing strikes here but Scott is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
Poor strikes thrown by Sol there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Scott tries to reverse the position but Sol maintains control.
Sol thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Viktor Sol showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Scott misses with a wild body shot.

so Scott counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Sol has his foot on Scott's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Scott works his way back into a safe position though.
Sol is trying to keep Scott in close.

Sol had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Scott defends it easily.

Sol keeping moving, preventing Scott from controlling successfully.

Sol looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Scott looking to pass the guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Barry Scott showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Scott has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
